Well, you've hit the metaphorical nail on the head.

I know it's ridiculous to expect things to change virtually overnight, for either of us. But we're trying. I tried. And I'm not going to stop, but it's daunting and frustrating and it doesn't make me want to continue. And your dad is hurting and feels as though most of them hate him. He doesn't know how to fix things and I don't know how to help him.

And let's not forget, all this is after I spent months dealing with Emma down the hall having your dad take her on shopping trips and have telepathic conversations together and flirt with him right in front of me, and I was generally criticized for having a problem with it because they were together while I was dead and she's one of his few friends and supporters.

And for the record - since the recent events with the Phoenix, I've moved on from those issues with her and we get along now. But you should still know for the sake of this conversation, I suppose.

It'll take time, of course. But it'd be really nice if the people who especially wanted you to try would recognize that you are trying and not act in ways that make you want to close off more, right?

Do most of them hate him?

From your perspective, though, he's your husband and she's the woman who had a psychic affair with him during your marriage and isn't that rubbing your face in it? (And I know what it's like to be really not pleased with her for being with Dad. When I came back to the team, I gave her hell.)

Have to admit the idea of you two getting along is almost scary. But it's good.

	Right. I think "hate" is too strong a word. Mostly, they're ambivalent. They don't understand him, and they don't particularly want to, and that's almost worse. Yes. I suppose it is. Most people can't relate to him. They haven't spent more than half their lives leading, almost constantly fighting or preparing for the next fight. And it's easier to be mad at him or ignore him than it is to try to understand him.

She's a great teacher. I'd hesitate to call her a great PERSON and do NOT tell her I thought that but she really is a great teacher.
