I can't say I thought of this long and hard because the decision had always been there. I plan on staying. From what I was told by Lance prior to his leaving, everything turns out for the better. The intergalactic war back in my world that we had been fighting for centuries is over.

But I am no longer alive after the war, and I'd like to continue to be alive in this world. I will miss the rest of my Paladins everyday until they come through and decide to stay here but for the time being, this world will have to deal with me in it for a few more years at least.

I was thinking that loudly, huh?

I figured that might be the case, but I wasn't going to fully assume. Especially considering sometimes just that idea of rest can be tempting.


I know I'm not the best company, but as long as you're here, I'll stay.

Going back wouldn't be the same with that. I know the situation waiting for me. Even if there are other Displaced that'll stay, you shouldn't have to be the only one of us here.

It's not your fault. And maybe there's still a chance, but that question will be waiting there whether I go today or 50 years from now. They're safe back home. Let's just have you missing four Paladins instead of five.

There are far too many. There'd been an off and on support group in regards to that considering some worlds aren't as kind as others and sometimes people know when they first come through but others learn about farther in the future while they're here.

Yeah, I'd talked to someone about that for a bit. It does seem like there are a fair number of us that have this sort of 'easy' decision.

Not that it's exactly easy knowing you won't see your homeworld again.

I get that. Like if this was more of a choice of 'hey, you end up back in your world five years after you left and just have to deal with your brother, sister-in-law, niece, and nephew being mad at you for vanishing all those years', there could be temptation. But with just popping back to when I left... not so much.

There's still a chance that more people from your home may come through though. And who knows, if we get picked up by cruises again, we might end up in a version of your home.

In all honestly I'm not certain I'm wishing Thor here. He typically creates trouble wherever he goes and he might as well be doing that in his own universe, not here.

But that's true about Asgard.

He's been pretty good most of the times he's passed through. Most of his trouble making was limited to people's livers and the local butchers. And I'm sure we could find some people to keep him in line if he did come through.
