When we were searching for the keys, and Quentin and I went through the clock, I doubted if Fray was actually Fen and I's daughter. I had no way of being completely sure. It used to gnaw at me. Always in the back of my head. Even decades later, once Rupert was grown and had children of his own, sometimes I'd think about her and the what-if's would come crashing in.

And when Margo stopped all that from happening? We escaped living the Mosaic but the memories couldn't quite go away? I did my best not to think about Rupert. The Mosaic, Ari, Q. Any of it. But especially Rupert.

It hurt too much.

Q and I used to talk about him what we'd do if he ever showed. We might have had memories of a full life with our boy but I can tell you...memories are never enough. It'll never be enough.

And it'll still always be there until she is with you. You just [...] have to try to live with it.

And it's a bitch.
