WHO: The Cast, Crew & Audience for Mamma Mia WHEN: Tonight! 7pm! WHERE: Center for Performing and Creative Arts WHAT: The EPS Staged Concert Performance of Mamma Mia TRIGGERS: None, unless in comments?
What had been conceptualized as a full fledged musical has morphed into a staged concert of sorts. Each song will be performed in costume and by the original performer who was intended to perform the character if applicable. In instances where key cast members were lost, the songs have either been left to be performed by those remaining. For instance many of the trio songs have become duets or re-distributed between the remaining students. Essentially? They'll be doing the best they can.
Ahead of the performance, sometime last week, Eliot altered one of his personal spells to help them out. The wrecking ball mechanism has been manipulated to provide costume magic. Anytime someone is performing a song that would have been sung by Donna, that performer will have a magic costume change (hello overalls). The same will occur for anyone performing a song that was supposed to be sung by Harry will have this get up.
The programs will have a forward written by Eliot where he goes into detail the perserverance and adaptability this group of students has shown over the course of the semester. It'll reiterate that staged concert concept and will end with a dedication to the students who went home before their talents were able to shine on the stage in this production (Molly, Sabrina, Pixie, Miles, Lyra). A plot synopsis is provided so one can know what happens between the songs.
