The ancient language of Island is a Western dialect of Old Norse. I've been teaching myself how to read and speak it so I can read a manuscript I came across. The Galdrakver. Its previous owner, Bishop Hannes Finnson, was said to have a vast library full of magic related texts. I am inquiring further to try and uncover these texts.

As much as I'm able before we're whisked off into space, that is.

Nerd fun. Hermione Granger level of fun.

There's no telling when with the Portal, unfortunately. Could be tomorrow while we sleep.

I know a lot of you aren't going to be happy about it and I completely understand that bad things have happened but...I've never been to space. Is it bad I'm a little excited?

I keep thinking about the Thor from my universe and how he might react to seeing the book.

[Filter]
Does it help my street cred to tell you I essentially borrowed the book from the 'Restricted Section'?

I think it's a perfectly natural reaction, Katie. One which you don't have to be ashamed of. For me, it's just the inconvenience. At the moment, I'd much rather be home, studying. Whether we stay in Tumbleweed or go on a cruise, we're going to be met with danger sent by the Portal.

He's been here before, right?

It does.

That's true, do any of our things come with us on the space cruise?

A few times, yes. Each one being very entertaining.

I fully intend to return it, once its been both memorized and copied.

Usually just our clothes. Although, on the airship, not even that. We were given steampunk-style clothes.

He'd be fun to meet.

Such a rebel!

Damn. I'm worried about Stella being on her own.

Yeah, it mentioned the Nebula Cruise Ships and a ship named the Atomica. It doesn't say when we're going, though.

Seems to be everyone's reaction. No, I don't remember it saying anything about pets. Damn, I don't want to leave Stella behind.

There are magic texts here? Or where you're from.

In my universe, certainly. In this universe, the range is wide. From spells that are essentially non effective, to actual tomes that have practical use with mastering the mystic arts.

Oh. If they're at home, is translating it really going to help here? I suppose I understand the need to finish things you started back home, though.

This particular manuscript actually came from this universe. I'm learning the language so I can try to cast the spells in the original tongue and test the efficiency of the spells. There's some very interesting looking things written there.

While this particular manuscript has survived, nobody knows what happened to the rest of the Bishop's library. This was documented to be around the 17th century.

Your knowledge of runes, self-taught?

Would you like to come to the Sanctum, or do you prefer I meet you someplace else?

Academic, but that was over 200 years ago. There's not much need for runes in Connecticut

I'm available to come over. When would be convenient?

Tomorrow? My evening is booked tonight.
