So I've been thinking about aeroplanes a lot lately. I always was fascinated by them when I was younger. Hell, one time I nearly crashed my broom trying to fly too close.

But we've got these letters for our most unrealistic asks and for once I think I'm actually fairly prepared for anything else that might come our way. Why not ask for a plane? Several of you here have experience flying aeroplanes. If I asked for a plane, how hard are they to learn to fly? And could someone in this group to get some practice with that?

I can pay.

When I was coming up in the Air Force, they told me that women weren't allowed to fly combat. You could learn to fly, but they'd never put you in the cockpit during combat.

You wanna fly? I'll teach you to fly. No payment necessary.

That's what I said when I joined the BMAF. But then you get out there and it's kind of all combat roles eventually.

I would love to fly.

They kept us out of it. We had to make our own path. Ended up working with experimental aircraft.

Then we'll get you there. Even if you don't get that plane, I can teach you.

That sounds amazing. What sort of measures do you experiment with in terms of aircraft?

Sounds great. When would you be up for starting?

Dr. Lawson made a bunch of designs, mostly working with space and atmospheric capabilities and faster than light technology.

I'll have to talk to Rey about using one of the planes until Christmas when we HOPE you get one. Otherwise, I could check with Stark about a Quinjet.

Is there much to do when you fly to space?

Got any recs on models? I'd been looking single engine, but realistically I've never even been in a plane so it's all youtube videos and best guesses at dials.

Most airplanes use combustion engines and propellers. Those don't work in space. Gotta use rocket engines. Or warp-drives like most people do in the galaxy off-Earth.

I learned on a Stearman Model 75 from WWII. It was forty years old when I learned on it, and it helped. Most planes these days have a lot of automatic settings.

Did those see combat? Most of the ones I remember had the one set of wings.

This one did, but they were mostly used for training purposes. It was called Mr. Goodnight, and not for a good reason. It's one of the few stories I don't actually remember.

It's never for a good reason, though usually for a decent story.

Would you recommend a 1940s model? I'm pretty rotten with technology but figured all the dials in the cockpits of new ones meant something worked better or was different?

Then again I'm still flying my 1939 Cleansweep model V.

A lot more automation in the new stuff. Failsafes, etc. If you're looking to actual do the flying, that stuff can be turned off. Either way, I can teach you.

If you're comfortable with a plane from the 40s, then I've got you covered there. You've already got the basics: pitch, roll, yaw.

They are, but flying with one you need access to a machine. You've already got a way too move through the skies that you're not utilizing.

Show Yourself.

I can't really relate as much to Into the Unknown since this is what, my 20th or something alternate universe?

Once you get past alternate universe 10 it takes a lot to be surprising.

Poe and I both got planes on year. For a long time, it was the closest I had to the sky and I love my plane with all of my heart because of that. Even with my proper ship here now.

I saw Carol offered to teach you. You are welcome to use mine for those lessons.

I've flown brooms basically since I could walk, so I get that. I just think it would be ace to try something new.

Thanks for the offer. What do you have?

I've not tried a broom yet. I wasn't interested in the sport that I see everyone play so I didn't give it anymore thought. I imagine you'd recommend it regardless?

Cessna 172. It's primarily for passenger transport. I'm looking into something a bit larger, though I've not decided whether to go Cargo focused or stay on the Charter side.

We do flight training too. A broom has a variety of uses beyond a plane. It's small, silent, and unlit single, has a full range of motion and depending on skill and your braking charm pretty turning radius of a couple feet and more or less handless. It's not as adaptable for troop or cargo transport, but great for surveillance and combat.

Don't planes do both?

You know that's not something I've ever done before. The airplane. The closest I've come is when the Pearl took to the skies and our adventures on the Cruises.

During the war there was a factory near my home before we had to move. Then they were of course, used in the war.So I've seen them at various degrees of closeness. But I haven't really ever interacted with them.

But cars weren't so bad to pick up and it could be useful to know, right?

Well it got me thinking, cars weren't so bad. Planes probably aren't either.
