Fray, I'm going to tell you something and it's going to be very hard to swallow so bear with me.

Children of Earth are irredeemably foolish. I like Gansey but he is absolutely no exception, neither is your father, or anyone else originally from Earth. They're optimistic to the point of infuriating and wildly irresponsible, regardless of magical ability.

That being said, they are also obnoxiously, infuriatingly lucky. Opportunities and chance will appear to them that will never, ever appear to us. Not always, but if anyone will ever get away with acting rashly, they will.

I find screaming into a pillow helps.
