I say this with great annoyance (recognizing that likely no one here is to blame):

Avengers, assemble.

Meaning, is there anyone here who actually knows who I am?

It's not as though secret relatives are unheard of in this family. You might very well have a sister lurking in Niflheim who's plotting to destroy the Nine Realms as we speak. One never knows!

I was always the secret relative. Who were you referring to?

You haven't run into mention of Hela yet?

Only in mythology books. But there's a few years difference between here and the last reality I was in, which means I've probably missed a few things.

Suffice to say your grandfather kept secrets he should not have.

Can you elaborate on that? Google appears to be lacking in useful information somehow.

So was Odin. Your father and I came by most of the story from other sources.

Are you certain you want to hear this tale? It does not have a happy ending.

Yes. Whatever happened doesn't happen in every reality. I would like to know.

Very well.

You could say that Hela was the All-Father's first disappointment. Oh, she excelled in all manner of things, as he urged her to do, but he had raised a conqueror who knew no restraint.

When Hela failed to come to heel at the end of your grandfather's conquest of the realms, Odin handled the problem the way he tended to handle most unpleasant things. He locked her away and covered up all evidence that he'd ever had a daughter. In another genius move, he linked the bars of her cage to his lifeforce. No Odin, no prison. Do you see where this is going?

He died. Hela was released. This is already different from my reality. What happened after she was released?

You can't be saying that everyone died.

Not everyone. Most. Half of what few of us remained were cut down by Thanos.

It is hardly your fault, Niece. Better to spend your time here enjoying the company available than mourning those who cannot be saved.

I can still be sorry their lives were lost and about what you must have gone through.

Yes, well, your father made friends with a raccoon he insists is a rabbit, so it wasn't all terrible.

You mean Rocket? How does he look anything like a rabbit?

I don't know. Ask your father when he gets back, if he ever decides to show up again. Mind you, he's been having trouble with depth perception lately.

Because the idiot lost an eye to our sister. I understand Rocket gave him a new one, but your father neglected to wash the damn thing.

Apparently your father had no capacity to think about it.
