The community college here any good? I know I could have someone fake a B.S. for me (pun intended), but I thought it might be nice to get a degree from somewhere other than Batcave University. You know. Try a different mascot, take classes when the sun's out, get a diploma I can stick on a wall instead of an old, singed costume in a case.

Nah, probably not.

You finish your go at the whole college thing?

Nope. I was there briefly before I enrolled in the University of League of Assassins. I had hoped to go to medical school at some point.

Ugh. The guidance counselors at Assassin U are the worst.

You ever think about going back?

Seriously. It's all "do as we say or we maim you."

No. Not anymore. I think I've been out of the normalcy game too long. I doubt I would even make it through one lecture without envisioning taking out the professor.

I was so bad at doing what anyone said Ra's kicked me out. Well, plotted to kill me, but Talia was still all soft on B back then so she gave me some money and set me loose in Europe.

Anything else interest you? Or are you happy with the superhero gig?

Sounds like we had slightly different experiences. As for Talia, most of my interactions with her were when she was a child. Because time-travel. They don't set people loose often in my reality.

I'm not a superhero, but what I do is pretty much all I can do. Trying to assimilate back into society did not go over well.

What can I say? The League likes to keep things interesting.

I've pretty much felt the same until the last year or two.

Never a dull day.

What changed? Being here?

How they do it's the real mystery. Normal people run out of ideas in week, but Ra's just keeps popping them out like a bunny.

My brothers died. I almost died. They came back, but it made our old man a little clingy.

Must be a side-effect of insanity.

[ JASON/SARA ]
So near death helped you start seeing things differently?

A little? Maybe? Mostly it meant I was home when Damian died and wound up sticking around to try and help fix the mess.

How long's it been since you came back?

From the dead? Almost three years since the time I was brought back from being dead for almost a year, though I don't remember the first few weeks of it. About a year and a half since I died last, but it was only for a few minutes so less of an impact.

So not that long.

You sure you aren't assimilating back into society in your own way? You've got a team, right?

Not that long.

Yeah, but we live in space and outside of time. When we're with society it can be from any point and it never lasts. Here it's more of a forced mashup. But I guess you can say I'm finding ways to deal.

I work with a space princess and a mercenary archer. My old man dresses like a bat to fight crime and is in an on-again/off-again relationship with a thief who dresses like a cat. Our closest family friend is an orphan from outer space who can crush the planet with one hand.

Assimilating doesn't have to mean normal.

Bringing myself back home to try and build a life there eventually got my family killed. My mom is the only one left, and I have no intention of bringing my idea of a life to her doorstep. The closest thing I have to a family after that, not counting my team, is Oliver and Thea Queen. Olivers currently locked away, and Thea's off traveling the world with my ex-girlfriend. It's just safer to live in space.
