A Feast for Thor at Hyrule Castle 3pm until the last person keels over
Did you attend? With delights to sample and tankards that are always full, it would be a shame to miss the festivities. Raise a glass to the God of Thunder or any friend who has left the Displaced but is still beloved. "Nor shall we mourn but rejoice." Technically, they aren't in Valhalla (hopefully), but let the sentiment stand, yes? It's one of the prettier things to come out of Asgard besides Thor's golden hair.
Zelda has graciously allowed the Asgardians (read: Loki) to make use of Hyrule Castle for this event. The back lawn has been transformed into a feasting ground fit for Asgard, with decorations courtesy of various talented individuals that make the space feel as though it belongs to Asgard's golden halls.
Your menu for the evening:
Roasted meats. Venison, boar, lamb, beef ... these all suit an Asgardian-sized appetite and can be sourced in Texas. Num!
Smoked fish. It wouldn't be a Nordic meal without fish. You can thank Loki later for leaving the lutefisk off the menu. Instead, you'll find smoked salmon, smoked cod, smoked herring ... you get the picture.
Fresh Fruits and Roasted Vegetables: Enjoy the bounty of tangy apples and sweet berries. Pile some honey-and-herb roasted carrots, parsnips, and turnips onto your plate beside that slab of delicious lamb. These aren't the full selection of good eats (yes, there are potatoes, as obligatory at a sort-of-Norwegian meal), but they give you an idea.
Mead, Melomel, and Ale. For the crowd who are of legal age, you will find mead, melomel, and ale in addition to beer and wine for your enjoyment. Not familiar with melomel? It's also known as fruit mead or honey wine. You'll find several varieties, including ones made with berries, stone fruits, and apples.
Elven Wine: For those (again of legal age) who need a little extra kick.
Cheese: Try the gjetost. It's delicious. The organizers had a little trouble sourcing other Scandinavian cheeses except for Jarlsberg, but there are still plenty of varieties to choose from such as cheddar and gouda.
Baked Goods: Warm, dark, earthy seed breads, soft sweet loves, lefse and krumkake filled with fresh whipped butter or cream plus cinnamon and sugar.
Come for the food. Stay for the friends. You might even catch a show from one of Asgard's finest playwrights.
