Greetings everyone. It would be a pleasure to make your acquaintance. Most recently in my life, most people call me Breq, but I am also Justice of Toren. Please forgive the immediate discussion of business; however, I have some issues that need to be addressed.

Athoek Station, part of it, has arrived with me, and Station - its AI - is in need of more assistance than I can provide. The Botanical Gardens, recently repaired, will need regular work to maintain it. Given enough time, I can take care of the rest of Station. The Undergarden was mostly repaired, and I can fix what remains. However, living things cannot be ignored for so long. Unfortunately, having just arrived, I do not have local currency on a scale to pay anyone yet. I do have more than enough food, we grow our own, as well as tea and other options, pursuant to conversation and your needs.

While I could spend all my hours maintaining Station, and I will spend a good number of them doing just that, I am also interested in gaining paid employment. I have roughly two thousand years experience in the military, five years experience as civilian security, as well as experience in a multitude of jobs from janitorial to sewing to sports. I am fluent in more than sixty languages and learn new ones easily. If you have means and need for any of my skills or ones I could learn, I am interested in speaking with you.

Thank you for explaining. I think I still have a lot of things to learn. Almost all the time. The Fairies taught me to read and write. There wasn't really much use for things like science or mathematics. I learned how their magic worked, especially the inner workings of fairy deals. But a lot of the Earth classes are new to me. Math is not very bad, though. It is easier than history, but there is so much history I don't know.

Oh. I don't know how many spaceships are here. I think I saw one mentioned.

You are welcome. We all have more expertise in some things than others. For example, I know very little of Fairies. There are some stories, yes, but those may or may not be more or less true. [...] All of us can know only an infinitesimally small portion of history, even if we spend our entire lives studying it. There is no shame in knowing only a little. Even my knowledge of ancient history is very limited. I am learning a great deal.

Gideon and Waverider, perhaps? Gideon said hello to me earlier on here. Or do you mean another one?

You would not want to know more of them. I have seen films in which they are harmless, happy things. They are nothing like what I know. Fairy deals come with a cost. Always a cost. I am trying to play catch up, but not all of the classes interest me and it makes learning them difficult because I would rather learn other things. I guess Russian was okay. I am learning how to defend myself now. Over the summer.

Oh. I meant just a spaceship. I'm not sure if that one has AI. I don't know Gideon or Waverider.

I can believe that. I know of few deals that would not come with a cost, though some are less drastic than others, of course. That sounds reasonable but does not make those less interesting classes less important on their own. But they are usually harder for it. I will be learning many languages here, including Russian. Who teaches you how to defend yourself?

What do you know about this spaceship? Being one, I am curious.

Yes. The price depends on what the deal is. I was the price for a deal. That's what they say. The people at the X-Mansion.

Not much, really.

If they have to say it, you did not make the deal. Other people should not be the price. I have not yet met those people. I am sure I will.

A name? Of a pilot or the person who showed it to you?

I didn't, but that doesn't matter. I was an infant. I couldn't argue. They shouldn't, but they are. Probably. They run the EPS school where I go.

No one showed it to me. They mentioned it on the network. I might be wrong about what it was. Rogue had it.

No, and even were you not an infant, it may still have been forced upon you. But it would have been uglier, harder to ignore. As I am an adult, I have not heard much of the schools here.

I can ask Rogue about it. Don't worry about it.

Yeah. Not sure what I was worth, but it happens. It's okay. They're easy to find.

Okay.

Perhaps you are okay. But it is not okay that it happens.

There's nothing to be done about it. Not now or in the future. They are stronger and more powerful.

I thought the same thing for a very long time. That does not make it true. They may be stronger and more powerful, but that does not make their strength and power eternal. It can be lessened and eventually undone. Even if we never live to see it.

Not Faries. They have magic. It's not physical prowess or a political strength. It is Fairy magic. It is eternal.

Anaander Mianaai was immortal. It does not make her eternal. Nothing is as all powerful as it may seem. It just may take our lives. And more.
