Greetings everyone. It would be a pleasure to make your acquaintance. Most recently in my life, most people call me Breq, but I am also Justice of Toren. Please forgive the immediate discussion of business; however, I have some issues that need to be addressed.

Athoek Station, part of it, has arrived with me, and Station - its AI - is in need of more assistance than I can provide. The Botanical Gardens, recently repaired, will need regular work to maintain it. Given enough time, I can take care of the rest of Station. The Undergarden was mostly repaired, and I can fix what remains. However, living things cannot be ignored for so long. Unfortunately, having just arrived, I do not have local currency on a scale to pay anyone yet. I do have more than enough food, we grow our own, as well as tea and other options, pursuant to conversation and your needs.

While I could spend all my hours maintaining Station, and I will spend a good number of them doing just that, I am also interested in gaining paid employment. I have roughly two thousand years experience in the military, five years experience as civilian security, as well as experience in a multitude of jobs from janitorial to sewing to sports. I am fluent in more than sixty languages and learn new ones easily. If you have means and need for any of my skills or ones I could learn, I am interested in speaking with you.

No, they mainly depend on fear of violence, I think. Which is pretty effective, in itself, and I've met plenty who were scared to join up with us. Once Voltron showed up, a lot of people felt braver.

It seems like using as much as possible from what is already on the planet would be ideal. Though not to the point of depleting the planet's resources. And then finding ways to adapt different types of plants to be able to grow in whatever substrate can be made. Water is usually considered the main limiting factor.

It takes a couple months and can be bothersome. However, I do appreciate that I will have my leg back. I am sorry that I cannot help them grow arms back. Even with Station's help, I do not have the implants to do so safely. It is not as simple as using a first aid corrective.

It can be incredibly effective. Few people will speak their mind if it means their death. How did Voltron help?

That would make it cheaper and less intensive of a process to provide what is needed. Many places build weather control systems to affect surface conditions. Once there is enough water present, it greatly helps with reusing it. But water is something terraforming needs to be amenable to humans.

It makes total sense that something like that would be really complicated. But - wow. Can your tech regrow other body parts? Organs?

Mainly, Voltron was the first to win some real battles against the Galra. It's the most powerful weapon in the world, and thankfully it's in the hands of really good people. And they've given people a lot of hope.

Weather control is definitely another aspect. Definitely a problem on a lot of planets. Temperature management and shelter from wind or dust storms of multiple varieties. When I went to Kerberos I was taking samples to figure out what might be possible there, but I haven't gotten to do it since. I've had other priorities.

If people are suspended or reach medical care in time, yes. A few months ago, my lungs were regrown. However, for most of my life, I usually did not receive such care. It can be intensive with slow recovery times.

Is this robot sentient? It sounds remarkable certainly. The universe is a large place to defend. It is a start. But freedom will take more than Voltron, I should think.

Weather control is a balance. Some weather patterns may be unpleasant for humans but good for planetary health. Making the two align can be challenging. Moons are great places to explore. Even if you need a space habitat, they can offer many resources. Understandable. My priorities have changed upon coming here.

Lungs! That's incredible. They must have gotten to you quickly; you can't go long without lungs.

Voltron is made up of five sentient lions, each of which has a paladin -- basically, their pilot. They have a mental or psychic connection that develops more over time. And then when all the lions join together, they become Voltron. It's really cool. None of us entirely know how it works, but a lot of it is about the bond between the lions and their paladins, and the bonds between the paladins themselves that helps them all join together.

It's definitely something I'd like to look into. Although now I'm not sure if it's something I'll end up doing. Short term, I was focused on the rebellion against the Galra. Long term, my sister and I have talked about going back to the Galaxy Garrison and making it into something different, better. Which might lead to getting to do more research into things like terraforming, but might not. And since I've been here, I've mostly been working on researching the portal, and doing tech, and building prosthetics.

They must have. It was incredibly foolish of them, and they could have died. Once I was in suspension, I did not need to breath. I was not brought out until I had lungs.

The lions were built to bond with their paladins? It raises a lot of questions. I would like to meet them, if it is ever possible.

There is a lot of work to be done here, and you sound like you have more than enough to occupy a single person. But perhaps you can take some small amount of time and devote it to what you want to study. We don't know what will happen someday.

They must have thought you were worth the risk. I'm glad you survived that!

I'm actually not sure how the lions were built. Probably one of the paladins, especially Allura, could tell you more, if you wanted to ask them your questions. But I know the lions weren't built by their current paladins, and they choose which paladins to accept. Unfortunately, none of the lions are here.

I like to have a lot of projects, and I have a lot of energy for them. I'm definitely never bored from lack of things to do. But it does take more time than focusing solely on one thing, and the prosthetic arm for my friend is currently the highest priority. But it's coming along well, much more quickly than the first one we built, because we're not starting from scratch this time. I don't know how much study in that area I can do from here; I'd probably have to go someplace like NASA, and that would involve leaving my team behind. But at some point, maybe! At the very least, I can try to rebuild the Garrison in a way that makes it possible for other science officers to push that research forward.

I too am glad I survived it. But I believe the individual did not understand the danger they were in.

I would like to ask them questions, whoever would have the answers. It is encouraging they choose their paladins, but it does not remove many many questions. It is a shame they are not here. I would enjoy the conversation.

It is rare that time permits anyone to work on one thing and one thing alone. Even one project can grow many parts. I am glad for your friend. The limitations, even temporarily, can be frustrating and, more importantly, have significant consequences. Depending on what happens. Which, here, could be anything.

What information would you need to be able to gather to work on terraforming potential here? It may not be possible. The technology is quite limited. But I have not been here long enough to judge.

I think they'd definitely be willing to talk to you! I can introduce you at some point. I'm not sure how talkative the lions would be with someone they haven't chosen as a paladin. They didn't talk to me at all. But I also didn't really have much time to try talking to them, either, to be fair.

I'd have to think about exactly what I'd need. If I ever find myself with a lack of things to do, I'll put some thought into it. Doesn't seem likely to happen anytime soon though. Do you have a particular interest in it?

Thank you, that is appreciated. It's very easy to go without talking, and I would guess many people do not take or have the time to talk with them.

The to do list has only gotten longer, despite the help. I have never been involved with terraforming a planet, but I have some familiarity with many planets that have been terraformed. The difficulty and complexity of the processes involved are comparable to other kinds of systems and problems. I find it worth thinking about, but it's had little practical application in my life.
