You can buy a machine that makes 110lb of ice a day for $620. Or you can buy four machines that make 26lb of ice a day for $100 each, which is a lot cheaper.

I initially read that as "rice" and was SUPER curious.

Also, what are the electricity bills gonna be like in each situation?

Great minds.

We would be such a long way toward solving the food problem if we could make 110 lb of rice a day.

I don't know. I don't pay them.

That sounds pretty great. But unless we have solar panels/wind technology/something independent, that's gonna be a concern too. Long term costs. IDK that it'd make up for the $520 price difference in any sort of short term. But it's a curious math problem.

$220 if you have four running to make the same amount.

Why, is electricity expensive?

Because at this time, we're still depending on fossil fuels / limited resources and expensive yet outdated infrastructure.

Sabotaging oil wells would be more effective.

Well, so long as you don't go spilling oil places it shouldn't go. And you've got all those pipelines and other means of transportation to worry about. Oil rigs anyone? We've had at least on bad spill in the last ten years on other earths.

I guess I shouldn't do that then. Usually I have other people to think about collateral damage.

Yeaaaaaaah, not without having effectively planned for the collateral damage. Who are those other people?

You want me to take a look at it? I can probably get it working better. Or at least you ought to get another system? It's just the beginning of summer, it's only going to get hotter.

It's normal air conditioning. You live with Iron Man. I don't overheat as much as I [...] overcold.

The opposite of overheat. Obviously.
