We don't know much about how this happened. It's presumably based in magic but unlikely ours. The portal you came through? It is more powerful than many of us have ever seen. And it brings us here and we live in this reality almost like a copy? Because no one notices we've left back home. Like I said, I've been here a year, and I take it I've been with you some of that time.

And eventually we get sent back home but we never remember. Or at least that's the popular theory. Margo's left twice before now but had she remembered, I'm positive she'd have said something back home in Fillory. But people can remember if they show up back here.
