Since Bones tells me this isn't an extended vacation and that I should get a job, let me ask this: any jobs out there for displaced starship captains?

Yeah yeah I know there was some talk of jobs right when we got back here in Texas, but I was still too new. Also, I didn't want to get a job. I still don't. But - I'm erring on the side of doing what my doctor ordered.

So what skills do ya got? Aside from being a starship captain?

Excellent leadership skills, expert knowledge of advanced quantum mechanics, ability to drink other people under the table, really good communication skills, tactical and command training ...

Ya might find something at one of the garages if'n ya can fix regular old cars and motorcycles.

I had a motorcycle until I gave it away.

Not a bad idea... thanks.

Sure thing. The rest of what ya listed might not give ya much to go on. Unless ya try out one of the bars for drinking people under the table. Though I think you'll find plenty of people who can one up ya on that.

We probably still have some openings at the Fort.

Doing what?

Mostly either guarding the portal or doing documentation.

Boring on both accounts.

Shocking that you have that opinion. Look, this place isn't exactly Risa, and Starfleet doesn't even exist. I'm not sure how many options you have.

I'm guessing you're looking for something that involves defying death on a daily basis?

Actually, I thought I might work as a mechanic.

Really? You know how to fix things?

... yes I know how to fix things, Bones.

Yes.

I'm skeptical, but then that's not really surprising.

How would you know how to fix an ancient car?

[info]nottiberius

Because I've done it before.

I guess that makes sense. Didn't your stepfather used to collect classic cars?

Still, I've never seen you as Scotty, Jim.

Yeah.

Classic cars are a lot different from the engines of the Enterprise, you know.

I’m having a similar problem. In that jobs sound terrible right now but are apparently necessary.

Yeah. At least there seem to be more people to entertain myself with. Talking to only one person for a while is not very entertaining. Really limits things.

Yeah. They seem all right. Everyone from my world is the wrong Timeline, so that's a bit disorienting. But it's not so bad.

Oh hey, I've got two timelines from my world too. Didn't realize that was a common thing.

[info]andrieski

We have 40. Everyone else is 40. I'm 23. Apparently I'm dead in 40, so it sounds like a shitty timeline.

Yeah magic probably complicates things.
