I have them here if you really want to read them.

It's about the Chatwins. They find this place called Fillory, which it turns out actually exists. I've been there. I'm a king of Fillory. Sort of. It's been a while since I've acted as a king. ANYWAY. So it's basically about all their adventures in Fillory and what happens. There's two gods Umber and Ember who run Fillory. Both of which are dead now. Woops. There are questing animals who can grant wishes if you catch them. As long as it's possible for them to do it. You still can't wish a dead person not dead. You have to go to the underworld and steal their shade and take it back up to Earth and do the spell to bring them back. [...] Have you ever read Narnia? It's sort of like that. Except without the part where you find out that the author was actually kind of the worst human being to ever exist.

That sounds interesting. Yes, please!

You're a king! Forgive me, Your Majesty, I never knew!

Umber and Ember sound suspiciously like fire-gods... am I right?

I'm very familiar with Narnia. What do you mean by 'the worst human being to ever exist'?

All right. I’ll loan them to you.

I guess that’s fine. I forget sometimes, too.

They are goat gods. Idk about fire.

I mean he was more intimate with Martin Chatwin than he had any right to be at his age given Martin was still a kid. It definitely changed how I felt about things.

Danke, I love new book recommendations.

I was being silly there. Do you really want me to call you Your Majesty from now on? Because I totally will.

The name 'Ember' brings to mind fire, which is why I made that guess. By 'goat gods', do you mean they're gods that oversee all things related to goats? Or are they half man-half goat? Or are they all goat?

Uh, yeah. I understand.

It's fine. You don't have to. Valkyrie calls me King Q, but I sort of respond to a lot of things at this point.

Goat-men. Ember. Ember was basically the god of chaos and Umber was the god of order.

[...] Yeah. The worst.

I'm not that formal. If it's all the same to you, 'Q' works just fine.

Interesting. Like satyrs. You've met them, before, these gods?

Q works fine with me. It's what people usually call me.

Yes. I have met them. I tricked Umber into coming back to Fillory and then Ember killed him and then Ember was going to kill us and Fillory, so I killed him instead and thus got magic turned off.

They're the source of magic? So, nobody in your world is able to cast spells, anymore?

Magic comes from the gods. Ember and Umber’s parents were not happy about their sons being killed, so no magic. Julia is, but we’re still figuring that out. We’re on a quest to get magic back. We’re only 3 keys in. There’s 7 in total.

It's interesting to me how different universes have different systems of magic.

Are they literal keys? By finding them, do you appease the gods? Or will they unlock magic for everybody without the consent of the gods?

Yeah. It's a lot to keep up with sometimes.

Yes. They are. We're supposed to go on an epic quest to find this castle like the daughter of this great knight that went to save her father. It unlocks magic as far as I can tell. That's what the book says. It's not really finished for us yet. When we find a new key, more of the book appears and then we have to find out how to get the next key. The Truth Key is definitely the most uncomfortable of the three. We got the life key after the life that both happened and didn't. Apparently I was in the Fillory books for the second time and I had to give it to Jane Chatwin. Otherwise, nothing that happened would happen and we'd have been royally screwed. But Margo went back and stopped us from going through the clock and into Fillory, so that's why it didn't happen. Then we remembered everything later. Three timelines in one head is a lot. But yeah. The gods don't really have anything to do with it.

That sounds crazy enough to be an X-Man adventure.
