I know that we have people who have disappeared, and I am sorry for it.

However, none of the townspeople seem to remember what happened yesterday. Everyone I've spoken to has mentioned a gas leak and mass hallucinations. This is very odd.

But that was yesterday. It was in front of them. Now, people are much happier to tell themselves it was something they ate, inhaled, imagined, or hallucinated.

They don't want to believe in portals and monsters and magic. They actively seek ways to explain it away. All while wishing for magical solutions to everything that troubles them.

I find that it depends on the universe, but most people like to pretend that bad things didn't happen.
