	Let's Get It On was Marvin Gaye's first work moving into the funk genre, and he works wonders with his voice. And while you may think he tried to hard, no small number of people wanted to get it on with him when that album was released. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Funk was developed from a mix of... jazz, soul, and rhythm and blues. It's generally very easy to danceable. That he does. I do not believe it was a general call on his part. But it was popular on late night radio stations. (Reply to this) (Parent)
