Bonnie

Hi! I was asked about doing something that I can’t replicate, but I think you might be able to.

Do you have a minute to talk?
Hermione
Can I ask you a few questions about something?

Yeah. What's up?

Well, first of all, how are you doing? Everything is insane.

And secondly, back in Blackpoint, there was this thing called the puppet spell. It was put on everyone who came through so that they couldn’t hurt themselves or others while they were upset. As soon as we were released and deemed a non-threat it was taken off.

There’s talk of trying to do the same here.

I don't know, honestly. Trying to figure out what I can use to help Tyler, and looking to see if I can help at another magic user with an issue. But my house is here so I've been enjoying my own space again and working on getting the plants I had from the cruise transplanted. How are you? How's Ty?

I can tell you now I'm definitely not capable of turning anyone into a puppet. I've heard of souls being trapped in objects. I can probably curse someone so they can't inflict damage onto others. But...not so much puppets.

I’m helping Maggie with her plants later, but if you need a hand, I can make time.

I feel like this day is never ending, honestly. I warded my place, and have two other places to do, maybe three, so my work is cut out for me. And Ty is struggling. He doesn’t sleep, so thinking is a big use of his time.

Ugh, yeah, definitely not trying to do souls in jars. I’m thinking more of a...precaution of sorts to stabilize moods? Less inclined to violence. They wouldn’t need to actually become a puppet.

Thanks. If you'd like, you're welcome to come over. But it also sounds like you could use a nap or six?

I know exactly how he's feeling. I really need to find some sort of power source.

Like a safe zone? A space we're people can't move if they're enraged or violent? I might be able to cast a barrier spell on one specific area that's fueled by anger or the intent of violence. Something like that. But puppets are not in the realm of nature.

Probably like twelve.

I wanted to talk to Pixie about maybe solidifying him temporarily, but he’s scared of hurting her, and that it might mess up what you’re going to do.

Yeah, I was originally thinking of a cheering charm on the room where people come through, but I think a barrier might be better. That way they can feel whatever it is they’re feeling and still not be causing harm to people.

Huh. Actually. Maybe we could do two separate spaces, one independent of where the portal is. New arrivals could get a wearable portkey that when touched would take them to the second spot if their emotions are heightened. That makes people accountable, though.

Wait, so there's an actual physical portal here?

That’s what it sounds like from Natasha’s latest post.

Two thoughts.

I could base the spell around the activation of the portal. When the portal activates, the spell activates.

Second. A portal this is crazy powerful. If it's magic. If it's magic, what are the chances they let me see if it could power a really big spell.

Yeah.

But there's a lot of powerful people who were here first. They might say hell no, we can't exactly fight them for it.

But there’s also a lot of powerful people here that have no current way of subduing the people that come through.

God. Okay, no. I told Tyler that I wasn’t going to make us focus on his situation until things calmed down, and I just ran past that.

I’m on track again. So would the spell be able to last longer on those that need more time to come back to their senses? Or would it be a one-time-fits-all thing.

I think I could fuel it on emotions. Of if they prefer for it to last a set amount of time I could do it based on that.

I’ll talk to Peggy, but I think it might be smarter to do based on emotions, since everyone reacts differently.

So to clarify. Don't mention any portal ideas to Tyler?

No, if you want to, you can. What I told you is viewable by anyone so you could have seen it without my big mouth mentioning it.

Mostly about the spell you did back in your fifth year for those that signed up for the DA?

The parchment jinx?

Yes, that! Would it work for any jinx, or a curse like a bodybind?

I suppose that would depend. What or who are you trying to jinx?

Alright so here’s the situation.

People arrive through a portal here, so a friend of mine is going to do a spell that activates when the portal does so that they can process but not inflict damage to themselves or others. My idea is to make a waiver of sorts, saying that the new arrival won’t hurt anyone in acts that would be considered on the offensive rather than the defensive, and to jinx it so that if they break their word, they get hit with a bodybind and can’t hurt anyone.

I don’t see why not. Are you going to tell people about the bodybund jinx? I didn’t tell anyone about my own jinx.

I’m thinking it should be more just stating,, “The consequences of going against this are real and won’t be enjoyable.”

Understandable. I should be able to help you out that together. I have something else I’m working on, but the jinx should be far less complicated.

It’s nothing, really. I think it’s important to make sure we are all safe here. Or as safe as we can be.
