Scientific curiosity.

(I can't figure out how to edit it, so just imagine the first option lists both Mel Brooks as director and Cary Elwes as actor. No one cares who directed the cartoon fox.)

The Adventures of Robin Hood starring Errol Flynn was also the recipient of three Academy Awards. The Disney version received one nomination, but did not win, and the Mel Brooks interpretation was not nominated. By that line of reasoning, Errol Flynn provided the best representation and the fox offered the second best.

ALSD, when Disney made their version of Robin Hood, they recycled footage from previous animated features, namely Snow White and Jungle Book. If we had internet, I could link you to YouTube videos of side by side comparisons. Therefore the Disney version is really not original.

Fascinating. Personally, I fail to see the human imperative to personify animal life, but to then combine the previous animated efforts of a 19th century German fairy tale and a collection by Rudyard Kipling with a talking fox is even more perplexing.

I could get into the psych, if you're interested, but it's a human trait that goes way back in human cultural history. Probably stems from ancient mythology and the worship of animal gods, which then took on human characteristics as to explain natural phenomenon. Now a days, it's more the 'cute' factor.

Are you talking about Jungle Book? Because Jungle Book doesn't have foxes. Talking wolves with human reasoning, but not foxes.

[ooc: sorry, I tagged with Bruce, not Kurt <3 ]

'Cute' is not something I associate with humanoid animals. Then again, it is not in my programming to recognize something as 'cute'.

I was speaking in regards to the Robin Hood animation. You are correct, however. As far as I can recall there were no foxes in the Jungle Book.

[ooc: no worries! ♥]

You don't think I'm cute?
