What the fuck just happened? Why is this a thing that has to happen? Let's put our minds together for figuring out a way to not get any memory dumps. I'd like to hear some ideas. Magical. Scientific. Whatever we've got here.

Probably because someone made a deal with one, and they pulled the strings to make the cute little legends we hear about today.

Different kinds. The ones that lurk around water will do anything from steal your clothes to drown you and keep your bloated corpse around for shits and giggles.
