So when we're not at dock, what do people do for entertainment around here?

This is coming from someone who hasn't taken leave in the last seven years.

Ummm.. eat, drink, and watch movies. Try to spar and end up in the brigs. Go swimming in the pool. Play an assassin game with... not actual weapons. Go to cooking classes or Build-A-Bear or learn to fold towels into animals.

....and this is why I haven't taken a vacation in years.

Hey, there's more stuff to do whenever we get back to Tumbleweed!

There is a pamphlet of activities and amenities. I haven't so much as glanced at it.

We're not much for downtime, are we?

What have you always wanted to do that you never had time for?

Ri

Way to put me on the spot here.

I haven't had as much time for research as I would have liked. Being a soldier doesn't leave much room for being a scientist.

Perhaps there's a way to continue your research here? Reach out to other scientists on the ship?

It's... a different sort of science. Alchemy. From what I've seen, I might be the only alchemist on this ship.

Transmutations can also be mistaken for explosions. There's a bit of pop and light at times.

I miss my books.

Oh, so magic?

There's quite a few magicians, wizards, witches. I was planning on taking advantage of research opportunities while everyone else is here to speak to people from other worlds about it.

Science. Alchemy. Transmutation. It's definitively a science.

Uh huh. Is everyone from your world capable of doing alchemy on some level, or only those for a gift for it?

In the same way that anyone can play piano on some level. Like any discipline, it just requires study and practice. There's varying degrees of strength depending on your training and how you construct your arrays, different specializations. Sometimes people are more gifted than others.

I think you'll find plenty of magic users here who treat their discipline like a science. Someone named Willow was wanting to look closer into the relationship between magic and science? Just don't blow anything up. We're on a boat.

There may be more opportunities for research if you keep an open mind is all I'm saying.

Now's the perfect time to learn new hobbies.

And I'm pretty sure a bunch of people know chess if you wanted a game.
