Damon ✦ Stefan Salvatore
Damon gives Stefan the tour PG Complete |
Now that his brother had the chance to settle in at the house and be informed of some key points, it was time to show him around. They had more to catch up on, particularly when it came to the residents of the house, and he didn’t want any prying eyes or ears to pick up on anything Damon had to say. He was concerned for Emmeline as much as he was Stefan. He’d known the former long enough now that she was very much a sister to him, the sister he never had, and he didn’t want her to hurt again over Stefan. Not that he blamed his brother. Disappearances were out of all their hands. As soon as they’d put the house behind them, Damon rolled down a window to lean his arm out of it and settled in for the ride. Now that the town was larger, besting Mystic Falls even, he enjoyed driving around it more. “So,” he started, mindful to turn down the radio for both their sakes. “What would you like to know first, brother?” Still getting his bearings, Stefan had to think about how to answer Damon’s question. There was a lot about this whole situation that had thrown him, but getting out of the quarantine facilities and settling in at his own home helped it feel a little less surreal. He’d focused first on settling in and on reconnecting with Elena, but now it was time for the tour Damon had promised him. “What’s the deal with Emmeline?” he asked finally, thinking about the way she’d reacted to him right when he’d arrived. She’d claimed to just know him from her friendship with Damon, but something about that explanation just didn’t feel right. There it was. The million dollar question. Prepared to answer any question under the sun, he couldn’t help but to hesitant for her sake. How many times had Stefan come and gone now? He side-eyed his brother with a slight grimace, though not out of resentment but visible reluctance. So, he evaded responding to it in favor of turning a corner and pointing out the Roadhouse. “See that?” He nodded toward it as the car slowed. “I help run that joint. Making an honest living, who knew, huh?” As honest as running a bar could be, he supposed. Speaking of honesty… “You had a thing,” Damon interjected. “She’s been through a lot. Lost you a couple of times, ended a thing with one of the Weasleys. The Pod God giveth and taketh away, brother. Try not to pry her too much about it.” “We had a thing,” Stefan repeated. “It was serious?” He assumed it probably was to cause that kind of reaction, but he wanted more than Damon was giving him. Having a thing could involve a lot. He did agree on the not pressing Emmeline much, which is why he was asking his brother about this instead of her. “Serious?” Damon glanced over at him, not sure how to answer that. He hadn’t invaded in their relationship much, though the answer was obvious. They had been serious, three letter words had been dropped, the works. Emmeline had been gutted when Stefan had disappeared. “Yeah, it was pretty serious,” he finally divulged. “You meant a lot to her. So, take it easy on M&M. Don’t make me kick your ass.” Stefan nodded. Not like he was planning to give Emmeline a hard time, anyway. He had just wanted to know why she’d been so weird with him and maybe a little bit beyond just you had a thing. “Anything else I need to know?” he wondered. He didn’t like knowing he’d been here before when he couldn’t remember it and he wasn’t sure he wanted to know every last detail, but at the same time, if there were other things that were important, like with Emmeline, he didn’t want to be left in the dark. “She had a fling with Charlie Weasley,” he thought aloud as he tried to consider his sister from another mister’s love life. “Also didn’t work out. Not because she was hung up on you, but because the chick he was hung up on came back. So… Door’s open for you. I recommend walking through it.” Stefan rolled his eyes at his brother. “Thanks for the advice, Damon, but I meant about Tumbleweed in general,” he said. “Believe it or not, I can actually manage my own love life just fine.” “Can you though?” He countered with a heavy amount of skepticism. Neither of them were particularly successful in that department, his brother being a poster child of that fact. “I’m one to talk, but you, brother…” He whistled until it faded out and made an exploding sound. Then, he grinned. “Anyway, the basic gist is: we’re both technically fictional, all of our life got shown on TV here. Weird shit happens, especially around the holidays, people come and go at random, so it sucks. Such is life.” Happy for the change in subject, Stefan nodded. “I read the brochure,” he admitted. “Have you watched it? Our show?” He was equal parts curious and sure seeing it would be a bad idea. It was hard to say which would win out ultimately. “Nope,” Damon responded succinctly. “Didn’t wanna, not gonna, not interested. Some people say their lives don’t even follow what people saw on TV, so what’s the point?” Stefan nodded. “Probably smart not to. Whatever’s in our future, I’m not sure I want to know.” He was curious, but he wasn’t sure looking into it was smart. It was enough to know he’d been here in the past and didn’t remember it. “I think it’s time you showed me this bar of yours.” |
