On Bikanel island, where I'm from, we generally cook whatever meat we hunt over a campfire and we harvest cacti as well. It's pretty barren so we take what we can get. Not a lot of spices available. So whenever we visit other places it's a treat to get something fancier. So I guess you could say the food here is pretty upscale compared to what we've got back at the island.
