So, the internet? Wow. This is mega-huge. Like bigger than I ever could have imagined it being sort of huge. Titanosaur argentinosaurus huinculensis cross bred with a Blue Whale kind of huge!

It's so easy to get lost in too.

Has anyone else lost an hour of their life to aodrable cat videos?

No prob. Are you from a world with no computers or the past or something else?

The past is the best way to put it I think. I love computers though. I just can't believe they've progressed so much!

The Occulus or HTC Vive are the way to go. You can buy it and play games or watch things on them and it feels like you're in it. That's pretty cutting edge stuff available to the public.

How do they make you feel like you're in them? There's a lot of results on yahoo.

Science is how!

(Technically, they have two little screens, one for each eye, that show a slightly different picture and move with your eye that gives the illusion of three dimensions. They break it down here)

Well, yes, science, but I was more so asking about what the science was. Like, is it an immersion technology? How do they immerse you? How are your other senses suspended, negated or integrated into the experience in order for it to be comprehensive enough to not cause a cognitive disconnect?

Oh! Thank you for the link! You're so helpful!

It's glasses that go over your head. Pop in headphones and the rest of the world kinda disappears. I'm sure someone somewhere has a VR experience with things like wind machines and tilting rooms and stuff. I was at a con once and saw a VR ball - kinda like a huge hamster ball for people. You go in, put on the headset, and can walk in any direction.

No problem. Nerds gotta help each other out.

That is amazing!!!!

Where was the con that had the plus sized hampater ball? Do they have things like that all over the place now? Are they limited? Is there one aroun here?

It was at PAX a few years back. I haven't seen anything like it since, but tbh it's probably not that hard to make.

Do you [......] think we could make one?

Uh almost certainly yes. But money's kind of an issue here so it'd take a while.

I wonder if my mom could

Oh. That is a problem. How much do pieces normally cost?

Probably would make it from scratch aside from the VR devices. So im not sure.
