They're not so much worried about angry people as they are about diseases. They didn't like us much before, but we went into the past and saved the town from disease - which we might have brought with us accidentally - and now it's a bigger town, and they know we helped them, so they're a little more friendly. Generally.

But they supposedly would also help if someone really bad came through, too, or started doing really bad stuff.
