Midgardian rules for this football are exceedingly complicated. How do you know when to have three downs and when to have four?

Flash pretty much summed it up. But most teams use the third down as their final attempt to get the ball over the ten yards they need to go. But a lot of it depends on where the ball is. If it's just a few yards shy of a first down the team might try to go for a first down. But if it's more than that, they might kick it to the other team. Or if they're close to the goal line try for a field goal.

	The risk with that is you could get tackled and the ball could slip from your grasp and the other team could grab it. (Reply to this) (Parent)
