Any job recommendations for an out-of-work vigilante-slash-crime-lord? The grocery budget can only last so long without fresh infusions of cash, especially when you're feeding an eighty-pound dog.

Dog walking? Not just for middle schoolers anymore.

Not sure my dog would approve.

Cierto. Can't go home with another dog's dander on your clothes.

It's pne of the worst betrayals, almost as bad as not sharing bacon.

Did you have a side job before? Or were you one of the lucky vigilantes that got a paycheck for that?

I had a small fortune hidden away in off-shore accounts. And a trust fund.

Ah the good ol' trust fund. Maybe if you wish real hard it'll come through next time we got a pod gift drop.

But until then, there's always pizza delivery?

We get gift drops? I think I'd rather put in a request for Alfred.

Are you kidding? Pizza delivery costs more than raw ingredients. I knew more than one family as a kid who'd blow their food budget on Pizza Hut and go hungry for the rest of the week.

Every now and then. It tends to be things and pets though. Pets of the animal kind. Unless you're referring to a different Alfred.

Soooooooo, ok, crossing off Pizza Planet from the job possibilities. I'd say the volunteer fire department could use more people, but, well, that whole volunteer thing.

It'd be just my luck to get stuck with Alfred the cat.

I'm guessing that picking pockets is frowned upon.

Is he a tuxedo cat? Tell me he's a tuxedo cat.

Yeah, just a bit. On the plus side, you'd give the other out of work vigilantes something to do though.

Then all is right with the world.

You might find yourself overrun though. Which is just an encouragement isn't it? Because that makes it a challenge. Oh boy, just forget everything I said.

If you have muscle, it's been my experience that physical labor can be found almost anywhere. Or, if you have fighting skill, there is a gym where you can teach others how to fight. That is where I've found a job here.

Any mechanic work around here?

I can fight. Not sure if it's the kind of fighting I want to pass on to someone else, though.

On the mechanized vehicles? Yes, I think so.

What sort of fighting would be bad for someone to learn?

Cars and motorcycles, mostly. I can work on other things, too.

The kind that kills people.

They have both of those here, I believe. And shops for them.

Are you trained only to kill from a distance? No combat involved beforehand?

Might have to look and see if any of them are hiring. Thanks. I take it you're new to automobiles.

I can kill just about any way that you can come up with. Doesn't mean I use all of them, but I'm not as restrained as the rest of the family.

My world is a bit behind this one in terms of mechanics and technology. But we do have quite a bit more magic.

As a soldier, that is a skill I can appreciate. I mainly meant that perhaps you could teach the fighting part without the killing part, but if you've settled on a mechanic job, it's probably a moot point.

Guess that might even things out.

It's a nice thought, but there's a whole lot more wrapped up in how I fight than the fighting itself. Training I'm not even sure I'd want to pass on to another Robin. Besides, Dick's the teacher in the family.

If everyone had access to it, perhaps. Most don't. The Grisha - magic folk - usually live much more comfortably than the rest of us.

I understand. Seems best to stick to the mechanics, then.

Let me guess. They don't do much to help everyone else.

Probably, at least for now. If there's a call for my other set of skills ... I've never been shy about using them.

It depends on which Grisha you're talking about. Many of them, not really. Some of them use their abilities for reasons I really disagree with.

I've had much less need for my own violent skills here; hopefully you'll have a reprieve from yours as well.

Inspiring fear to have power over others, hurting and killing to maintain that power, gaining immortality, and so on.

I wish you luck with that one. I'm not sorry for the break, but I'm not immune to restlessness.

Just let him give you something silver to touch, and if you don't blister from it, you'll be good. Shifters can't handle silver.

At least that's step one for him. I think that's down at step 6-13 depending on the mood and how much 'punch, yell, punch, yell' cycle happens.

There's a provision for moving punching and yelling to the head of the line.
