[X-Telepaths]
Our friends in the military seem to have backed off due to whatever we did to change the timeline. But I worry we're one incident away from things escalating again. I don't know how many ticking time bombs we have here. So I'm wondering if we might make ourselves useful. When If someone loses control and makes a scene, we're the closest thing to a public relations clean up crew this place has.

I propose we offer our services to wipe any human minds clean in case of an incident. We'd have to make it clear that this isn't some excuse for everyone to act a fool, but to be used only in the case of emergencies. It's my hope that if there aren't any witnesses to post stupid things on the internet, the military might not swoop in and detain our people.

Thoughts?

[Erik]
Are we still plotting dark deeds in the event of military nonsense?

[Kitty]
You get one chance here, so save your cute commentary for later, kitten. Are we capable of being civil and working together?

Spurned by your actions back home. Sentinels.

So I'll take it that's a no to my question.

No sentinels here, and we'll talk.

But what do you care about my opinion anyway?

I have never answered to you and I'm not starting now, dear.

I don't care about your opinions. I just want to get things done.

That's not true though. You tasked me with holding you responsible before.

I tasked you with shooting me. I was going through an especially fatalistic phase.

You were unsuccessful, so you don't exactly get a gold star.

I fused myself to a bullet to save everyone. That's not unsuccessful, Emma.

I was the one who was supposed to

We're getting off topic. Can we work together? Yes or no?

As long as you don't do anything terrible, yes.

But I'm going to be watching you.

Morale projects. Why don't you come find me when you have some time and we'll discuss?

The last time Wanda's tantrum caused quite a spectacle that it involved cell phones and the media. Looking into it here, it's not quite as involved as it was when the town was smaller, but it went viral.

So we'll have to keep tapped into it.

In case of emergency, I'm confident we can stop any media involvement. There'd be enough of a delay that we'd figure something out before journalists get involved. Cell phones are more of an issue thanks to Facebook Live and similar apps, but I think we can work around things under the guise of pranks or something.

It would be work, but we're all skilled enough to handle it.

I'd rather not make that offer publicly to the rest of the Displaced. Nor do I believe simply erasing any and all memories of an incident will endear us to the military.

Before we went back in time the military seemed most concerned with witnesses more than actual power usage. No ones come up to have a talk with me even though I use my freely. If we can avoid publicity, I think we might be able to avoid military scorn.

They were concerned with our exposure to the rest of the world. And for that I cannot blame them. We're considered fictional here and are arriving through means that they cannot explain. Knowledge of our presence can instigate countless events that none of us particularly wish to have happen.

But just because we can take away someone's memories of us using our abilities on them doesn't mean that we should. As a group we need to be more careful with what we do and what we showcase to the populace.

I agree with you. I also think that we should plan for emergencies. Perhaps we could reach out to the leaders of the larger groups instead?

Even among our own people, we cannot vouch for everyone's control. To say nothing about some poor teenager with destructive powers suddenly showing. Or of something with less than pure intentions trying to set off some trouble.

We can never vouch for everyone's control, but responding to the rare occasion of someone's power accidentally causing issues or even someone deliberately doing so is not quite what you've suggested we do.
