No, she'll listen to you. You just have to say it the right way. Part of the trick is this — convincing her that it's her idea to wear the old clothes. Besides, it's not that far of a stretch considering what's going for fashion these days.

I think I'm getting her to settle on a brand new outfit for her first day of school and a few other new clothes but not a total new wardrobe.

That was my thinking. Maybe see if we can find her clothes that can go with each other so she can mix and match.

Sometimes that requires getting too close to a person. Don't worry. Just a very small throwing disc that works like a taser.

I do want her to have the means to defend herself from someone that doesn't just rely on fists. And those discs do hurt like hell. But given she'll only hopefully at worst be dealing with kid bullies, got anything a little less painful to deter them? I mean I do want her to have one of those discs just in case something worse than a playground bully shows up.

Most likely the advertising on TV for the whole back to school sales and such. I don't mind buying her a few new outfits though. She takes care of her things so I know they'll last.
