After some discussion and the departure of a friend and her baby, I was hoping to see if there are plans in place if an adult were to leave here and their child/ward is left behind?

In a normal situation where the custodial parent abandons a minor the preferred option is to find family willing to take them, otherwise placement in the foster system. With us, I'm guessing it would be like when a minor turns up alone - find them a guardian in the community.

That was what I thought but I wanted to ensure that there were plans in place so they would continue to be cared for.

My main worry is what would happen if a child was born while we are displaced ends up remaining here and their parents were sent back.

Last time an unaccompanied minor turned up they sent an alert to my office.

Yeah, that's... tricky. And hopefully rare enough to deal with on a case by case basis if there's no obvious choice. Right now I'm pretty sure the only case where it could happen people would be lining up to help before the rest of us even knew anything was going on.

That's good then. At least there are those being alerted to unaccompanied minors.

Indeed. And I do hope it is rare.
