[Mami spent the entire time the monsters were on the prowl boarded up in the apartment she's been staying in. It's cowardly, pathetic, and she wholeheartedly agrees on that. But she isn't stupid; she still can't summon a gun that works, and without any other form of defense, she'd be easy pickings for those monsters in no time.

But now that things have calmed down, she's going to try to fix that little problem.]

Is there anyone here capable of teaching others how to fight? With melee weapons, specifically. I'm unable to use my regular means of defending myself, so I need a backup plan.

[It's a good thing the radios only transmit when the button is pressed down, or else Sora would have gotten an earful of Mami's scream of frustration and grief, as well as a dull thud as she kicks the nearest solid object. She was sure she had killed Kyuubey, but she just didn't do it quick enough. And now, because of her...

There's another long period of silence as she tries to collect herself, but... she really doesn't sound too good this time.]

He told you that you can wish for anything you want, didn't he? Or maybe that you can help everyone or gain immense power... but I'm sure he left out the less pleasant traits that come with being a Puella Magi.

Mindless monsters whose only goal is to spread as much chaos as they possibly can before they're taken down by the puella magi. But what he conveniently leaves out of all this information is how they're formed.

Tell me, Sora-san. Have you fought a witch yet? Have you seen a Grief Seed with your own eyes?

Of course he didn't! He knows nobody would ever agree to this if he told them the truth, so he leaves all the bad things out, makes it sound like you'll be just like a magical girl straight out of your favorite anime, all so you'll be an unwitting pawn in whatever goal he's trying to achieve! [There's your answer to that question, Sora. Sort of.]

And there's no way out of it. You're either destined to die in battle or die as a witch...

[Mami's frustration is reaching a high point.] Do you want know how I found out? I watched a friend, one of my juniors, fall to despair. I watched her transform. I was forced to fight and help kill the monster that was once someone I was supposed to protect! [Sora mentioned wanting to protect people before. This, Mami hopes, will get through to her.]

Why in the world would I lie about something like that?

It's true that a Puella Magi that falls to despair or allows her Soul Gem to tarnish becomes a Witch. I didn't want to confuse you too early, so I didn't mention it. Is that really a bad thing? I didn't lie to you, and it doesn't change that becoming a Puella Magi has made you stronger. I made the offer with the best intentions, you know.

Anyway, you're strong, Sora, and I believe you won't give in to pointless despair so easily.

	You've fought other humans before when they were doing evil, haven't you? I don't understand why you see this as any different than that. Witches aren't Puella Magi.
