"I suppose so." He knew so. It was the first thing he thought about when he was conscripted. Had his father been there, he may have felt less insecure about being conscripted in the first place. His mother had expressed her pride, but it was obvious that she didn't want him to go. Leonas, on the other hand, would have been behind him whole heartedly, and offered his son the extra confidence he apparently needed to assure himself that he was fit for the job. "Mother is proud enough."
Just then he felt the second dog against his hand, and while he tried to fight it back, couldn't help the small smile the formed. "He's no bother. Just being friendly." Noa, however, quickly moved herself from that side to the vacant side of her master, peeking around him to spy the other dog. "Unlike some of us." He looked down pointedly at Noa, still amused at her new found fear. "What's gotten into you, Noa?" She groaned in response, keeping her eyes on the other Mabari.
