It had been over a month since they'd left Gwaren, and the journey had been an interesting and eventful one. He'd lost a dear friend, fought his first band of darkspawn, met dwarves, and saved an apostate mage, who happened to be an elf, from being dragged away by Templars. Eventful. But now the large group of travelers had finally made it to Amaranthine. When the caravan pulled in, Coan couldn't help but stop and stare at the large statue of the Warden. It didn't seem like it big enough to live up to the image he'd painted in his head, but just seeing it brought back more memories than the actual trip around Ferelden, and fighting Darkspawn had. Leonas Bryland was a staunch supporter of the Grey Wardens throughout the last Blight, and to soon be counted among them himself was a feeling that Coan couldn't explain, no matter how hard he tried. When his stomach finally took his attention elsewhere, Coan left his horse to be taken care of and took to wandering the Keep. He was found first by a courier who delivered several letters from his mother, uncles and cousins, and a few from Denerim. He was glad to know the letters he'd sent were received, he certainly wasn't expecting any back, but he was glad to have something to read before bed. Before he could get much further, he'd run into someone he hadn't expected to see. His younger cousin, Brannan, had been sent forth to the Keep by his uncle Sorin. Needless to say, they were very excited to see each other, and thrilled that they'd be sharing this experience together. While there were plenty of people he wanted to introduce him to, his stomach was dictating their journey, so they sat down for lunch to catch up and share stories of the time between now and then, and fantasized about the trouble they were likely to get themselves into in the future. When their hunger was satisfied, and they set food and drink aside, they went back to exploring, while Coan listed off all of the people Brannan absolutely had to meet. "Oh, and, of course. You heard about Mirelle." He glanced to the side and was surprised to receive only a shrug. "My cousin, in Orlais. He sent his step daughter to stay with us. She's here, as well." When the look on Brannan's face changed to something less than honorable, he elbowed him in the side, laughing as they rounded a corner. Noa wasn't too far behind them, more interested in all of the other people than her master or his cousin. "I'm not quite sure where she's gone off to, hopefully we'll run into her. Oh, and we came with three dwarves, as well. And some mages." He knew he sounded like a child, but before he could ramble on, he was cut off by Noa's barking. The young men looked around for any sign of disturbance before Coan knelt and leveled a look with his Mabari. "Now, are you going to act out today, too?" She whined, sitting, but barked again as she threw her head forward as if to point. Looking back to where she'd gestured, he had to raise his hand to shade his eyes from the sun light. "What am I looking at?" He asked, the glare of the sun making it difficult to recognize anything. "Are you barking at shadows again?" |
