After the sixth attempt to get in the house landed Lynne right back on the beach again, she had gone past frustrated and into desperate. Loki was her friend and Bruce made it sound like, if he hadn't already done, he was way too close to comfort to completely losing his shit. As much as she loved him...she was pretty sure that, left unchecked, Loki was a ticking time bomb that even she wouldn't be safe from should it go off. Dicking around with the house was wasting precious time, the way she saw it, and there had to be another way in if the doors weren't going to do it. She'd seen Miles' post...and while she hadn't responded to it because someone who could actually help had beaten her to the punch, thinking about it just then gave Lynne an idea. One that was probably stupid and one that TJ would've lectured her for even considering, but TJ wasn't there to do it.
So...Lynne left Bruce a warning message and looked out at the ocean. Taking a deep breath and letting it out in a huff, she strode purposefully out to it, wading in until she was up to her waist. If this didn't work, God only knew where she would end up, but it was worth a try. If Miles could start in the pool and end in the ocean...maybe she could do it backwards. Lynne took another deep breath and dove under, swimming out as far as her lungs would hold up and as fast as her limbs could carry her. When she surfaced, she looked over her shoulder and saw that she hadn't gotten as far as she'd hoped and so she took a third breath and forced herself underwater again, swimming out further. Lynne repeated the process until she was too far out in the ocean to get back to shore without having to break and attempt a Dead Man's float to rest and she paused, treading water and trying to calm her breathing as she panted with effort. Once she thought she could take a deep enough breath, she did just that and dove under again, swimming straight down until she could feel her lungs burning and her ears popping. That was the point at which she turned over to swim back up and nearly had a panic attack when she couldn't see the surface right away; she'd gone deeper than she'd meant to. It took all of her strength and spent all of her oxygen trying to get to the surface. Before she got there, everything went black.
Arms and legs flailing, Lynne broke the surface gasping and coughing up salt water. It took banging her head on the side to realize that she'd surfaced in a bathtub and she rolled over and hung both arms over the side, kicking her feet and splashing water up over the side until she managed to get her legs beneath herself, still choking up salt water.
"Jesus fucking Christ," she gasped once she caught her breath and sent Bruce a message to let him know that she was all right after climbing out of the tub and laying back on the floor, staring up at the ceiling. In a minute, she'd go see where she was unless someone was in the room outside the bathroom and checked in on all the noise she'd been making, and either way, once she got her bearings, she'd go looking for the room in which Bruce said he'd left Loki.
