Where I grew up it got pretty cold in the winter and we didn't have the temperature controlling things most of you are used to. We got through bad winters in our house, even the year we couldn't replace a couple of broken windowpanes, so I know a few tips for when you can't control the temperature.
Change your clothes every day, and keep them clean. Sweaty, dirty clothes don't insulate as well. Sleep in different clothes than you wear during the day. Make sure you've got a hat or something to cover your head with. Don't wear anything tight, it makes it so your blood can't flow and warm you up.
You need water as much for surviving cold as you do heat, and being fed properly helps too.
Take breaks huddling for warmth to move around. If you're sharing body heat with a few people put the smaller or younger ones in the middle. As much as it seems like a good idea don't burrow down and pull the blankets or whatever you're using over your head, your breath creates moisture when it's trapped like that and you want to stay dry in the cold.
That's what I know, anyway. We've got doctors for health advice I guess.
