Chapter Two: Irissa and
Who: Irissa Raidan OT Jane, Dante, and/or Thane
When: Evening Feb 11, 2208
Where: Irissa's penthouse at the Morningstar
What: Irissa just closed the deal on the casino and is considering the party preparations.
Irissa could be both thorough and quick when the situation called for it. She and her brother had spoken of purchasing a casino a week before. Today, now the 11th, she had closed the deal on said casino in the restaurant of the Morningstar. The dealer knew who she was, though the deal itself was going through under another name. No need to advertise herself just yet and the Elari would certainly be watching anything that went on regarding the Raidan. They didn't have them on the run just yet, but that was only a matter of time.
It was common knowledge that Irissa won at anything she chose to put her mind to. This also meant she knew when to pick her battles. Fighting to Elari while they were entrenched in France was not a good use of their strength, so she had forced the family to bide its time while waiting for the first family to make a mistake. They didn't. Instead, they had pulled up stakes and moved to Las Vegas leaving Paris ripe for the picking and Irissa had plucked it from where they dropped it and turned it into a Raidan city. Yes, she had help, one always had help but to say she was not largely responsible especially for the political maneuverings that brought the family out on top would be to diminish her credit.
The deal closed, she now had to hurry a bit about insuring things were prepared for the party. She'd already chosen colors, the paper for the invitations, decorations, food, entertainment...actually, she was pretty much done. Looking at the neatly organized lists settled on her blotter, she let herself smile even if only faintly. Yes, this would be lovely.
She had tried to make sure that at least some of the entertainment would keep Thane's attention, though it was certainly not to her own personal idea of things. Little sacrifices were necessary to look after family. Settling behind her desk, she wondered as to how long it would take their opponents to make an attempt on her life once they realized it was indeed true she was in town. The idea amused her. Others had tried assassins before only to find that she was decidedly stronger than they had originally thought.
And she had far better protection than they realized. Thane was never the kind to leave her utterly undefended. Not at all. He loved her too much to risk her life unnecessarily.
Things were going according to plan. Always lovely. Now if only it would have the result she desired.
