Challenge #2
Kol Mikaelson and Claire Danvers
bendy times - Monday 11/6
RATING tbd
On going

Darkness.

That was all Kol could see the moment he opened his eyes. He wasn’t in his apartment anymore. And it didn’t seem as though he was being sent home. He could hear someone or something else moving but he couldn’t really hear what it was. Not like he should have been able to.
Kol made his way to the door at human speed. It felts as though he was crawling through mud before he reached the door.

Annoyed. That’s what Kol Mikaelson was right now. All the abilities he relied on for over a thousand years seemed to have vanished overnight. And he wanted to murder whoever was responsible for his current predicament.

“If you’ve brought me here…you should at least be willing to show yourself,” he taunted through the closed door.

He could hear the movements getting closer and closer. Kol prepared himself for what could be on the other side of that door. In this place, he figured it could be anything. Already willing to try and weasel his way out of whatever was in. Kol didn’t fancy dying. Somebody always wanted something. Otherwise he’d have been dead already. Instead of human.
His first thought had been that he was given the cure. But for that to have been true he should have been able to access his magic.

Well. That wasn’t supposed to happen.

Kol looked from the pile of ash to Claire. “How curious,” he mused, staring at her. It seemed little Claire wasn’t quite herself either.

“You know if you wanted to spend some quality time together all you had to do was ask,” Kol teased, smirking at her.

The last person she wanted to be stuck in a house with was Kol. Something about him always made her act childish. Claire knew she should leave him alone, walk away when he started teasing her, but she always fought back. That was one of the reasons she had ended up a vampire. She hadn't just walked away.

She pursed her lips and tightened her hand into a fist. The glow slowly faded away as she tried to remain calm. The perk of whatever she was seemed to come in a strange form; her emotions weren't heightened. Okay, sure, the whole fire thing was neat too.

"Bite me," she snarled at him. That probably wasn't as intimidating now that she was minus some fangs. Also, now that she really thought about it, probably not the best insult since he might still have his.

She stepped over the ash on the ground and skirted around Kol. They needed to figure out where they were, what was wrong with her, and how to get the Hell out of the place.

"Can you sense anything?" She just felt overly warm, like she was running a fever, but otherwise, she couldn't use any of her old senses. Ironically, she missed being a vampire in that moment.

And on the other hand, Kol didn't mind the pairing. It seemed the angels thought they were a pair worth putting together again. Even though he had to kill her in the death matches, Kol liked Claire. She had spirit. Spunk. And he'd grown fond of ruffling her feathers.

"You keep offering and one of these times I'm going to do it."

He watched as she moved around him, shaking his head. "Nothing." It came out almost in a growl. It had been over a thousand years since he was living and breathing and he didn't like this feeling. Not when he figures this had something to do with the angels.

"What's with that, Firestorm?" Kol wiggles his hands at her.

"I'd like to see you try," she countered without even bothering to answer his question about the fire powers. Claire snapped her very human teeth at him before pushing open another door. The door opened easily, but the second she tried to step through it slammed shut. She yelled in surprise as she toppled over backward. A hand went to her face to cover her nose as she groaned. That had really hurt and she was pretty positive she was going to get a stupid bloody nose now.

The door seemed to bow inward for a moment and then suddenly a horrid shattering noise filled the room. Shards of the wood went flying everywhere and Claire moved without thinking. She flung her arms out towards Kol, flames erupting from her fingers. Wood slammed into fire and turned to ash before it ever reached him. A loud cry of pain escaped her as a piece of wood slammed into her arm. Flesh gave away as the foreign object tried to connect with bone. Blood was already welling up.

She sat there stunned with wide eyes.

Then, like Claire always seemed to do, she began to cry.

Why did these shitty things keep happening to her?

The house was already making other strange noises and she knew they had to get out of there, but she couldn't seem to stop the tears that escaped her eyes. She tried to yank the wood out and could only cry out in pain instead. "Kol," she was pretty sure this was the worst joke in the whole world.

Fiesty.

That was one word that could describe Claire Danvers. Kol did always enjoy pretty girls with sharp tongues.

"That does sound like a challenge, love," he replied with a cheeky grin.

Before Kol could even process what was happening, Claire was reacting. She was jumping in from of him.

"Claire…"

Kol was stunned for a moment, staring at Claire. She had jumped in front of him. To protect him. It was amusing, almost. Not long ago he snapped her neck and now her she was shielding him.

Now he was angry. And utterly useless. Kol Mikaelson shouldn't have needed anyone to stand between him and danger. He shouldn't have been human, weak, defenseless and breakable. This whole damn thing didn't make any sense and he hated the angels.

The house starting making more sounds, creaking. Groaning. He glanced away from Claire for a moment, to see what might happen next. Turning his attention back to her he said, "This is gonna hurt."

And before she could process what he was doing, he pulled the wood out of her arm. Wrapping the area in a piece of cloth.

A loud yell escaped Claire as Kol ripped the wood free of her arm. Her arm went numb for a moment before it felt like her body was on fire. She hated this. Being a vampire was not exactly her favorite thing, but at least she healed! Now she was stuck trying not to cry harder as her arm was haphazardly bandaged.

She was going to get an infection and die.

Great. Just great.

A loud, angry sniff left her before she rubbed away her tears with the back of her hand. Crying wasn't going to get them out of this. The house was trying to kill them and it was starting to look like the Glass House to her. Which wasn't fair! She could voices all over the place, Michael saying things. Eve yelling.

Shane saying hurtful things.

"Shouldn't have taken you in," a voice whispered near her and she awkwardly pushed herself up into a standing position. This place wasn't going to break her. She had survived, sort of, Kai and Kol and some house wasn't going to win. No, she'd burn this whole place down before she let herself crack.

"We need to get out of here," she clutched her injured arm to her side as she tried not to feel light headed.
