Who: Lisa and Tonks
What: Lisa needs advice
Where: #9
When: Wednesday, late morning
Lisa had gone to the diner early that morning to prepare for breakfast. As had been the case the past few days, she’d kept an keen eye out for Dominique, and had been very aware when a relieved grin lit up her face at the sight of silvery hair. At first, she had thought it was just because she was becoming better friends with Dominique. It would make sense why it would be relieving. Dom was a Ravenclaw, even if she was a bit of a different sort, and there was something inherently soothing at spending time with one of her own. But then last night, most of her thoughts had been focused on Dominique. Her dreams had been all about the woman. Even now, she couldn’t quite get herself to stop thinking about her, and it was... While not a familiar feeling, she knew it well enough to name it. She liked Dominique. Fancied her. Of course, she knew that the younger woman was beautiful; there was no denying that. But Lisa had been friends with plenty of beautiful women and not fancied them. Dom was different, in so many amazing ways. She had no idea what to do about it though, and she needed to talk it over with someone. So, she sat on the couch and waited for her roommate. She’d been quieter than usual since the storms - they lead to an intense feeling of loneliness and wondering if anyone would really miss her - and maybe this would be something that could bring her and Tonks closer again. She couldn’t help but hope, anyway. Lisa sat up slightly as Tonks came in, her hand automatically flying to play with her hair in a nervous habit. “Tonks? Do you have a moment for me to pick your brain?” She really tried to keep the desperate look off her face, but wasn’t sure if she was quite succeeding as she waited for the other woman to sit with her. --- In the past few weeks Tonks had been searching out ways to get back to normality, back to routines like Remus had suggested -- stop lying around in bed, at least. With the snow and the cold, her morning runs were difficult to reinstate, but she liked how they forced her up and out and gave her space to think, rather than wallow. Admittedly, more time was probably spent walking and clearing snow with her wand than it was actually running, but making the effort was helping all the same. That morning, however, her space to think had afforded her something... different. Her mind wasn't on routines or getting better, wasn't on Remus, wasn't on the slush underfoot or the lingering chill in the air. In contrast, she was thinking of the warmth and brightness of the past two afternoons, sitting back on her palms, surrounded by second-hand debris, finding easy conversation, shrugging off some of that heaviness still clinging to her. At first she had thought it was just that he was so similar to Charlie, that she was seeking out a Weasley shaped replacement for her best friend. But there was something distinctly Fred about their interactions. Save for Remus and Teddy nobody had made her smile like that in some time. When she arrived home she wasn't expecting Lisa, jumpy and eager, bombarding her with a request to talk before she had even finished coming through the door. A small, concerned frown made its way onto her face. "'Course, yeah," she said, pulling her coat off and chucking it to the side, not bothering to look where it landed before settling herself cross-legged next to Lisa. "Are you alright?" --- Lisa continuing spinning her blonde strands between her fingers, though a relieved sigh escaped her when Tonks sat next to her. She automatically shifted on the couch, sitting sideways with crossed legs to face the other woman. "Okay, so. I- I process things out loud, alright, so this may seem jumbled, and I'm really sorry about that," she started. She was stalling, attempting to gather thoughts before she just launched into the explanation. "I've been spending a lot of time with Dominique lately, and... I don't know how I feel, you know? She's lovely, and I'm very happy to have her as a friend, but I think I- I mean, I've been having these thoughts and dreams, and I love spending time with her and-" Lisa let out a huff, an embarrassed laugh escaping her. "I think I fancy Dominique and I'm freaking out because I've never fancied a woman before. There." There was a beat of silence, a breath of relief at having been finally able to say it out loud. Though, she realized she should add more of an explanation. "I just don't know what to do. And I don't know if you like women or anything, but we're friends and I thought maybe you could help me anyway?" she asked hopefully. |
