WHO: Emir & Roman Tilki.
WHAT: Emir makes it to Valentine's after all.
WHEN: Evening, Feb 14th.
WHERE: The Intermountain Opera.
RATING/STATUS: PGish, Complete.
Emir sat nervously in the seats that Charré had secured them for the Opera, a bouquet of roses in his hand. There were dark circles under his eyes and he’d spent the last 24 hours playing a dangerous game of connecting flights to far flung places, but he was here. He’d had a couple hundred roses delivered in the morning, along with the keys to a new car in the preemptive fear that he wasn’t going to arrive. But none of that really mattered as much as this, proving that Roman had made the right choice marrying him. He was buzzing with nerves and the large amounts of caffeine he’d imbibed to make it here on time and survive his inability to sleep on a plane he wasn’t in First Class on. He glanced down at his watch, then towards the entrance again. Surprises filled Roman with a sense of dread as much as excitement; he didn’t like not being able to control what was about to happen to him, or worse, what his reaction to said event might be… but on the flip side of that, surprises for him rarely ever went wrong and it meant someone was thinking about him. Charré had wandered off and told him not to wait up for her, which left him feeling unsure and like an idiot so he followed the order, making his way to their seats. “...Babe?” Roman blinked, eyebrows raised to their highest, frozen in the doorway. Then again, “Babe!” Now said with a grin. Emir smiled, relieved at the reaction he stood holding the bouquet in his hands. “Bi tanem,” He said warmly, my one and only, moving to the isle so he could meet Roman. He spread his arms, “You think I would abandon you?” But Emir was cut short by a hand on his chest, Roman purposely holding him back as he squinted at him. “You didn’t plan this, did you?” Emir wilted a little at the accusation, “I would never volunteer for this stress, I had to fly Economy class.” Roman levelled him with a serious look, scrutinizing, squinting, then allowed Emir the tiniest hint of a smile. He was pleased, but not ready to show it yet. “I was very hurt, Emir. You don’t even know what I had planned for you.” Emir smiled widely sensing he was gaining ground, “I am so sorry güzelim, I don’t know how it slipped my mind to plan around this day. Today let me finish spoiling you and tomorrow we can do whatever you want.” The hand on Emir’s chest was pulled away and the gesture might've been inviting save for the fact that Roman instead crossed his arms. “I don't know if I'm ready to forgive you yet.” Which was a lie, but he had to string on this show for a little longer, Emir didn't feel quite trapped enough by it to him. Perhaps why they worked together as couple was partially due to Emir’s willingness to abase himself for Roman’s affection. The audience they had didn’t matter and he reached out to lightly touch Roman’s elbows and kneel down in front of him. “I am so sorry bi tanem, I cancelled my next trip so I can be here for you all week.” Ah, much better, but Roman still didn’t fully smile because he couldn’t instantly melt to this sort of behavior no matter how pleased by it he was. Instead, made a small show of it, arms still crossed, huffing a sigh. He had to consider Emir’s apology, obviously. Then… “All week?” Just to make him promise. “All week sevgilim,” Emir said seriously, “And this weekend we can go anywhere you want.” “Hm…” Finally, Roman cracked a smile, tiny as it was he knew it would be enough for Emir. “Let’s go sit down. You can get off your knees, babe. For now at least.” Emir smiled in relief, standing and wrapping his arms around Roman. He kissed his temple, “I love you husband.” “I love you too,” Roman practically huffed it, still unwilling to cave entirely. |
