Jocelyn was sitting in the conference room, waiting for the return of Gil Grissom. He'd been basically forced to take some time AWAY from the crime labs in order to bond with his daughter, he didn't put too much of a fight as Luna was a good distraction for him and he had managed to con Cassidy into giving him updates via the phone.

Jocelyn was tired. Physically and emotionally exhausted. She was hiding a relationship that she was very invested in to the team and just felt much more tired and cranky than usual. She didn't sleep the best and it was irritating her that her significant other worked the day shift which meant they rarely saw each other unless they both ended up with the same days off. She did smile a bit when she noticed his schedule matched hers and she knew he wrote it that way on purpose. She wasn't the only one to notice though as Nick found it "Ironic."

She smiled as Cassidy entered the room. At least she wasn't waiting alone any longer.

"I still can't believe they had a baby, I mean I can't believe Sara showed up out of nowhere pregnant and...but Gil, he looks happy. I think this is what he truly needed, Sara back and a new little life to mold. I love babies..." Catherine sighed as she pushed Warrick down the hall. Gil had come in and informed them that he was now in fact, a father and that the baby was gorgeous.

She knocked on the door before opening it, Sara was laying in bed with the baby sleeping on her chest as she channel surfed. Catherine smiled and pushed Warrick closer to the bed, where they could see Luna's chubby little face as she slept.

"Oh, she's perfect," Catherine gasped.

Sara took Gil's advice and decided to sleep, telling him to wake her up if the baby was hungry o was or anything. She was sore, exhausted and definitely needed the nap. The baby girl was fine to sit with her father, dozing off in his arms or just trying to focus on his features. She was definitely calmed by his presence.

A short while later, an employee of the hospital who worked for the documents department slipped in.

"Hello, I'm Laura and I'm here in regards to your babies name? We need to begin putting her birth on record," Laura stated with a smile.

Gilbert unlocked the door to the townhouse and walked inside, "Hello? Anyone home?" he called, his voice tired and stressed. He kicked his shoes off and locked the door behind him before heading down into the kitchen.
Looking down the hall and into the bedroom, he smiled. Sara was there, with Hank next to her, and what appeared to be a bowl of cereal resting on her tummy. "Hey, Sara," he said with a smile as he took his jacket off. He tossed it into one of the chairs at the kitchen table and headed into the bedroom.

Jess felt like the walking dead as she entered work. She kept her head low and was hanging out for caffeine to try and stay awake. The previous night was another late one; no she wasn’t the party type; she worked double shift and as she was settling at home for the night she received a call from Joe the bar. She knew what it was about the moment he said his name. Her father had been drinking away at the bar for hours and he was picking fights with fellow drinkers who no doubt would make her father second best. She managed to get to locker room without anyone seeing her and opened her locker taking out a small mirror; analysing how her lip had changed in the last few hours, she cringed; worse than she thought.

She hesitated but then lifted her hand to touch her now fat lip; but her lip quickly rejected the gentle finger and she sighed. No matter what she tried; how much make up, she wouldn’t be able to cover it. Those labs could wait for her for a few moments longer as she tried to think up of an excuse for the fat lip; the only the was that she was a terrible liar; nobody would believe her. And... She also needed to wake up.

TITLE: The Woes of Physical Therapy

SUMMARY: Warrick starts to build his arm strength, gets frustrated with the dead weight below his waist.

The doctors and surgeons who had been working on Warrick Brown have deemed it okay for him to have mobility in his neck and torso, so long has he doesn't overdo it. He's been given the necessary tools to start re-learning how to move now that he is without the use of his legs.

"You use this bar to pull yourself up," a nurse explained, pointing out a triangular piece of thick metal suspended above his bed, "and these bars here are to help you shift into the wheelchair."

"Could we not talk about the wheelchair?" Warrick asked in a pained voice. The nurse gave him a sad smile. "I'd rather not be reminded that I'm stuck with this thing."

"You'll have to get used to it eventually," she pointed out. Warrick shook his head slowly, wincing. He'd lost significant muscular tone in his neck when the bullet transected two of his posture muscles on either side. He missed the neck brace that had been taken from him. "Okay, this bar over here," she pointed to a device similar to the one hanging above his bed, "is meant to help you get back into the bed. There's similar ones in the bathroom. Now we don't expect you to be able to do all of this right away, so here's a bracelet with a button for the nurses' station, just hit it and someone will come help you."

"Will they all be as fine as you?" He asked, chuckling. He was glad Catherine wasn't there to hear that, she'd have smacked him, he was sure of it.

"Only if you find the rest of our nursing staff 'fine,' Mr. Brown."

"Please, call me Warrick, I'm sick of the formality around here," Warrick sighed. The nurse gently touched his shoulder.

Gil left for work early so he could speak to Jess at the beginning of the shift. She'd sounded worried when she replied to his weblog. He didn't like when people were worried.
So he wandered into the breakroom, got a nice steamy cup of coffee, and headed for his office. He wondered what exactly Jess needed to tell him. While he waited for her, he looked through the most recent case files that had been piled sloppily on his desk, cursing whomever had done so. He wasn't the neatest of people, but he did like order from time to time.

He looked up when he saw a shadow in his doorway.

Jocelyn kept it simple for the moment; just having an english muffin with some green tea as she waited for her...breakfast date? She glanced up at the door every time the bell above it rang, knowing that when she left; she'd get teased and taunted by Nick.

Jocelyn had no problem with Ecklie, she gave him a chance when few didn't. She worked under him for three years and though at times he seemed socially inept, she dealt with him. She wanted to know who he was beyond the simple facts she'd heard through the breakroom.

Finally, she looked up and saw him and excused herself. "Alright, I'll see you guys tonight. I'm gonna go sit with him."

She didn't give Nick a chance to say anything though she swore she heard him mutter something about taking one for the team.

"Hey!" She smiled as she walked over to Ecklie.

She had managed to tear Grissom from Warrick's hospital room when he had to go in for more testing. Catherine promised to keep them updated and Sara continuously yawned the entire car ride back to the place they once shared and now would share yet again if everything truly worked out for the best.

She finally managed to get out of the clothes she'd managed to squeeze into and slipped into a pair of sweats and an oversized shirt, settling in the bed, hand on her stomach with the phone placed within reach on the nightstand, Hank was more than happy to join her. Now if only the other male in her life would do the same...

Catherine refused to leave the room as the doctor's poked and prodded Warrick, she held his hand, even as they switched his IV's, hooked up more machines and the whole nine yards. She managed to get a call into Grissom, letting him know Warrick was awake, responding and doing well for the moment.

However, he had a physical therapist coming to check his ability to use his limbs in a little bit and Catherine was fearful of the diagnosis. Though on one hand she was just happy to hear his voice again, and no matter what happened...no matter what the result was she'd be by his side.

As soon as the doctor left, she was back in the bed again, curled up by his side.

She heard the door open and glanced up, giving a small smile when she saw who it was.

Elly worked carefully, cleaning her tools as she hummed a song in order to forget about how eerily quiet the morgue could get which was why she enjoyed having visitors. Dr. Robbins had been on vacation for the past four days and without his occasional company, she was more bored than usual. There had apparently been a shortage of dead bodies because Elly had little to do and no new bodies to examine. Whenever she told people what she did, they would always get creeped out so she started telling them she was a nurse. It always felt odd to lie but the looks were worse. Clearly not everyone had the stomach to work with the dead, or even talk about them.

With a light sigh, she placed the freshly clean tools back into their rightful places. Doc would be happy she had caught up on cleaning. Elly had even filled out a rather large pile of paperwork that was in a jumble on Doc's desk. She supposed that would suffice for a welcome back from vacation gift. Glancing at the door as it swung open, she watched as a body was brought in. Now she would have something to do. She smiled slightly and took the clipboard as it was handed to her, glancing over the specifics. Obvious gunshot wound to the head, abbrasions on the wrists and ankles, bruises on the neck. Her blue eyes glanced up and down the body of what appeared to be a teenage girl. Brunette, thin, and looking peaceful despite her atrocious circumstances. Elly hated to see the young ones come in, but she knew she couldn't let that get to her or else she would have to find a new profession.

"Move her to this table, please."

Cassidy poked her plastic fork in the incredibly soggy caesar salad set out before her. That's what happened when she couldn't get a break until her shift was close to over. She was hungry enough that she ate some of it but now she pushed it away and sat back in her chair.

Grissom had taken off to visit Warrick with some woman she didn't recognize, however the whispers in the hall led her to believe it was Sara Sidle whom she'd never met but heard much about.

She eyed the time on her iPod, she doubted Grissom would be bac to work with a long list of demands for her so she figured she'd actually be out of there at a decent time...well, as decent as time could be first thing in the morning.

Catherine had been at the hospital for over an hour now, she'd gone to stock up on magazines and stuff from the gift shop when she spotted Ecklie and decided to hide out in the lobby; she didn't want to deal with him. She just wanted to spend the night with Warrick, talking to him, just keeping an eye on him.

Then after she saw an angry Ecklie rush by, she went to Warrick's room to see Grissom and a very shockingly pregnant Sara Sidle. So she went back to the lobby and waited until they took off. It wasn't that she didn't want to see Sara and ask for details but right now just wasn't the time.

Finally she made it to his empty room and sat down right next to his bed, "Hi there handsome, how you holding up?" She asked, taking his hand in hers. "There's something important that I feel needs to be said. I don't even know if you can hear me but..."

She took a deep breath, she should have said it much earlier than this, she should have told him when he could actually respond, but she leaned forward and whispered, "I love you."

As first she sat in a chair, trying to find a comfortable position before she felt a pinch in her back and she stood again. She paced for a moment, her fingertips tracing various objects on his desk; her eyes wandering upward to the small containers filled with various specimens.

Technically; she wasn't allowed to fly but when she heard about Warrick there was nothing stopping her. Same ol' Sara Sidle; stubborn as hell. Doctor's orders and she still ignored it. She couldn't believe she was doing this though, facing a part of her recent past Seeing the man she loved after all this time. How would she explain it? How could she tell him the truth? They had randomly exchanged letters, phone calls here and there but every time she left out the most important detail of it all.

She leaned against his desk, hands resting on her stomach as she gave an exaggerated exhale and felt a jab to her palm. This wasn't exactly how she pictured her life and she half debated taking alternate routes. Instead she stood in Gil Grissoms office, ready to finally tell him what she should have known months ago.

He was going to be a father.
