Is this Lalin's word or yours?

If I was just agreeing with lalin I would have said so when she spoke up.

I see. Is this something you have decided since then?

No, I knew then too, I was hoping we'd find some way to prove it and you could avoid having to decide between doing the right thing and doing what honor demanded.

...I am grateful you waited, though I've learned nothing since then. What do you know?

Very little sadly. I actually did a job for the Arlessa once. Couple of years as a guard nothing major. ... I guess I never really got to know her, but she's a noble Ord. Nobles don't mill each other, they hire other people to kill eachother.
She really didn't seem to be the killing type, more the sneaky manipulative type. Which just goes to show, there's no way she'd be stupid enough to kill some one and then get caught.
If nothing else, look at it from her perspective, why kill the Arlessa? What's she get out of it?

Then you do not know she is innocent, you think it is not likely she is guilty.

You know come to think of it, "innocent" is really not a word I'd use to describe her, but yeah I think it's very likely she's not guilty, And I'm telling you, because you're the only person who has the remote chance of making sure someone accused of a crime gets a fair shake in the Denerim courts.

Then you are saying the same that Lalin and Lillian are; you do not know what happened, but you believe she is too good to do it.

Not too good. Seriously Ord have you ever known me to argue a point based on the inherent goodness of a noble? I'm saying that she's either too smart, or that I doubt the claim. Anyone stupid enough to decide to just kill thier benefactor when all their assets and title would go to someone else and leave behind evidence that implicates them, do you really think they could actually off the Arlessa of Denerim, and then escape?

Skill and wisdom are not the same. An assassin can make mistakes in one but not the other.

That's probably true, lord knows that life has taught me people can be just as stupid as you expect them to be.
I'm not in the set her free party Ord, it just all seems like a set up, and I've been a victim of that. So I guess the question is, which is more important, bringing in Azabeth, or bringing in the person who killed the Arlessa?

But only a moment ago you insisted she was innocent.

Less of an insistence, more of a commentary. And you avoided answering my question.

I am sorry. You know that I have no wish to bring in an innocent. Yet all I have is the word of my superiors against the word of her friends.

I suppose she can hope that you extend the samemcompassion to the "not guilty" that you do to the innocent.
Seeing as someones life is at stake, I'll refrain from the usual nobles are liars jabs, however, it seems like there's some doubt and only certainmpeoples word to go on. So it sounds like we need to find some evidence that proves the truth one way or the other.

I hope that my meeting with Lillian's man will shed light on it. I am afraid that he will have no more to offer than any of the rest.
...I would. There is rarely such a thing as an "innocent," if it means one who has done nothing wrong.

Clandestine meetings with mysterious men? Sounds like fun.
I can hardly let you risk your reputation and go against the word of your superiors alone.

It will be done outside the city. If all goes well, no one will learn of it.

Hey clandestine meetings are my thing. How many did we have on this mission, and I was there for all of them.
Plus if it does pan out we get to stick it to some nobles which I enjoy.

This is my duty, Conlan. Grey Wardens are not supposed to be involved in political matters.

I am hoping to learn the truth. If that is that she is not the assassin, she will be free.

Fair enough.
In all honesty... I trust you enough that when you say that it'll end up alright.
