This island was seriously fucked up. Between Rose walking around not being Rose--and him actually believing that she wasn't Rose--and a freak BLIZZARD that dumped who knew how damn much snow on a population that was unprepared for it, and then islanders dying from the snow and cold, but not staying dead (okay, yeah, that REALLY freaked him out--and he was a fucking vampire!)... yeah, it was creepy.

Now this cave. Joe Kalili had mentioned it, and Damon had been determined NOT to investigate it. But it was like a goddamned siren, calling him. He even dreamed about the fucking thing. So he finally gave in, and investigated. The other vampire there ("the other" because thus far there was only him and Legs representing their species) had told him he'd found some useful things.

Well, the cave must've liked Legs better (he couldn't figure out why... after all he, Damon fucking Salvatore, was utterly charming!!), because it yielded nothing to him except major feelings of creepiness, or evilness or something. He didn't waste much time in there before deciding that the cave was psychically telling him to get the fuck out--and he was happy to oblige.

Now he was wading in the ocean, trying to shake the residual unease. He avoided looking at the cliffs that housed the cave--where someone or something had carved a skeletal face.

'There's a vampire authority?' Damon scoffed. 'Christ your world's vamps really ARE organised. That's not exactly on the down low, doll,' he said. 'Rest assured, the only authority here is Joe Kalili.'

Damon moved toward shore, and sat on the beach at the very edge of the water. 'The original Original, Klaus, started them. He's also the original hybrid. Trust me when I say that we REALLY don't want the hbrids--Klaus does, but I don't know any other vampires that do. They're so dangerous.'

He was unsettled, really, not being in Mystic Falls to keep an eye on things. His humanity was showing. He had Elena here, yes, but there were too many people that he, like it or not, gave a shit about, for one reason or another--mostly because they were people Elena loved, and he loved Elena, and was tired of watching her suffer as people she loved dropped dead.

'Werepanthers? Christ... werewolves are bad enough,' he muttered. 'I can say that, as far as Joe knows, and as far as I know, there are no weres here. Of course, that could change. If the island can bring a fucking POLAR BEAR here, it can sure as hell bring a were-creature.'

Sookie frowned at him and shrugged, dunking her head under the water again before moving up the beach and sitting two feet from him. She was lost and she wanted to be with Eric, but he was in ground and there was no way that was possible. She looked at him.

"All sorts of were's. Foxes, tigers, everything." She smiled. "Plus my boss at the bar is a shapeshifter. A true one, he can shift into any animal he likes." She laughed. "I love that polar bear."

She looked up as the lumbering beast made a noise and wandered over to her to nuzzle her. She laughed. "Oh you poor dear, this weather is turning your beautiful white fur green." She frowned and kissed his nose. "I don't know why this one has such an obsession with me."

Damon looked at her oddly. 'Green? Is he a freaking leprechaun?' Not that that would really surprise him. 'You CAN relax doll. I'm not going to bite you. Seriously. I don't want to have to deal with Legs afterwards.' He smirked and added, 'I'd hate to have to kill an antique vampire, really.'

He laid back on the sand,his eyes falling closed. Maybe he could pretend he was in Cancun or Puerto Vallarta, taking a break from checking out hot barely legal coeds on spring break. It worked until a very large, very rough tongue ran over his cheek. 'The FUCK?!' he yelped, opening his eyes and seeing the bear looking down at him with what appeared to be-- 'Is he fucking SMIRKING at me?" he demanded.

She smiled. "He's green because the humidity is making algae grow in the clear tubes. I may not be smart but I do read."

She looked at him. "I know you won't hurt me, but it never hurts to be cautious. I know how vampires can be in my world, and I imagine it's not much different in yours."

Sookie started laughing. "Oh he likes you! The tone I'm getting from his brain is excited." The bear made a happy sound, looking at Sookie. "You know if I spoke Middle Earth Elvish, I could talk to him." She laid back in the sand. "First non-human based creature I can hear thoughts on. This island is fucking weird." She let the bear lick her face, laughing.

	'Vampires aren't the only creatures that can hurt you,' he pointed out. 'Humans are pretty damn good at it too. Do you avoid strange humans?' He eye the bear warily. 'Long as the excited isn't him wanting to make a meal of me,' he said. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	"Yes but I can hear a humans thoughts. I know when to run. I can't pick up a single thing from vampires." She shrugged and began playing with the sand, looking forlorn. she was midi g her brother Jason. She glanced at him. "The bear won't hurt you, I promise." Orophin had been watching the encounter and stepped from the trees onto the beach, his long red hair shinning brightly in the sun and he looked over dressed in the cloak, bow in hand and net fashioned with vines containing mangos in the other. "He won't hurt you, she's right." The bear bounded over to him and there was a brief silent conversation before he headed for the water to swim, the bear almost more at home in the sea then on land, specially this hot humid land. "He likes that you can hear his thoughts." He explained to Sookie. "And you dead thing, he just isn't sure what to think."
