Fairy Wine Recipe [25 Jan 2008|12:13am]
[ mood | crazy ]

Fairy Wine Recipe

Color of the day: Indigo
Incense of the day: Patchouli

It is said that if a human drinks from fairy wine, he or she will see fairies. If a fairy happens to drink from the same goblet, then the person will see fairies forevermore. The following is a traditional Welsh recipe for elderberry wine—also known as fairy wine.

7 lbs. elderberries, stripped and stalked
3 gallons boiling water
6 cloves
3 lbs. loaf sugar
1 lb. seedless raisins
1/2 oz. ground ginger
1/2 oz. yeast

Place the berries in a large pot, and cover with the boiling water. Let the pot rest for twenty-four hours, then mash the fruit and strain it through a jelly bag. Place the strained fruit back in the pan, and add the cloves, sugar, raisins, and ginger. Boil this mixture for one hour, skimming constantly. Let it cool, and add the yeast. Bottle and cork the mixture, and let it rest for at least three months.

Spell to Remember Past Life [25 Jan 2008|12:47am]
[ mood | creative ]

Spell to Remember a Past Life

Items needed:
1 white candle
1 mirror
Yourself

Sit in front of the mirror, turn off the lights, and light the candle. Set the candle next to the mirror so the light from it can hit your face, but so you will not see the candle in the mirror.

After this is done, look into your eyes and say:

Oracle of lunar light,
Send me the second sight.
Stare into your eyes and do not blink.
Your reflection will dissolve and another will appear.
Try to look at the face, body, clothing, and surroundings.
After you do this you will have emotions you can not explain.
Don't worry they go away in a few minutes.

Chinese Peach Wine [25 Jan 2008|12:51am]
[ mood | creative ]

Chinese Peach Wine

Used both as an appetizer and a nightcap, Chinese peach wine also serves as a blood cleanser and relieves constipation. No more than 2 small shot glasses should be drunk per evening. It is also an excellent offering to Pagan gods and goddesses.

To make your own, take five unripe peaches, one pint of rice or white wine, and 1.5 oz of refined sugar. Quarter the peaches, and put all the ingredients into a large sterilized jar. Seal the jar and store it in a cool, dry, and dark area for nine months. Afterward, strain and pour the wine into a dry sterilized bottle. The bottle may be stored in the refrigerator.

For extra zing during festivals, add a dash of the wine to ice cream, trifles, and other desserts. In place of peaches, Chinese red dates or persimmons may be used.

Herb Honey [25 Jan 2008|12:57am]
[ mood | creative ]

It's not June yet, but I couldn't resist not posting this already!!!! ♥

Herb Honey

The full moon in June is called the “honeymoon” because this month is a good time to collect honey from bees.

Kids – don’t try this at home! It takes a trained bee-keeper. But what you can do is make a delicious Herb Honey:

Fill a small jar half full with either fresh or dried herbs. Some herbs that would be especially good are mint, rose petals, lavender, cinnamon sticks and vanilla beans. Then fill the jar almost all the way to the top with honey. Put the lid on and set it out in the sun for a few days. Then dip your finger in and taste. If you want more herb flavor, then, while the honey is still warm from the sun, strain the old herbs out and replace them with more. When your “taster” tells you it’s ready, strain the herbs out.

This is really good on toast or dribbled over ice cream!

Winter Sunday Hazelnut Bread [25 Jan 2008|01:00am]
[ mood | creative ]

Winter Sunday Hazelnut Bread

Today (23 Oct) is the Norse feast to celebrate the beginning of winter. One of the feasting foods is nuts. Hazelnuts are a prominent food during the month of October. They are used for charms and divination.

To make hazelnut bread:
1 cup + 1 tbsp lukewarm water
3 tsp yeast
1.5 tbsp butter
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
.5 cup toasted chopped hazelnuts
1 cup whole wheat flour
1.5 cups white flour
cornmeal

Dissolve the yeast in the warm water. Add the butter, sugar, and salt. Mix until smooth. Add hazelnuts and both flours. Knead the mixture for ten minutes, then let the dough rest for fifteen minutes.
Form the dough into a round loaf, and place it on a cookie sheet dusted with cornmeal. Let it rise until it is doubled in size. With a sharp knife cut a cross on top in honor of the four elements.
Bake the bread in a 400 degree oven until it is nicely browned, about 20 - 25 minutes.
String nine hazelnuts on a red cord and hang it in your home for luck and money.

Sharbatee Gulab [25 Jan 2008|01:04am]
[ mood | crazy ]

Sharbatee Gulab

This drink is from India, and June is an excellent time to make it since the roses will be in bloom. Serves six to 8.

5 large fragrant roses in full bloom
2 quarts cold water
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/4 cup lemon juice
3 cups crushed pineapple - fresh or canned
finely crushed ice
extra rose petals

Choose only roses not sprayed with pesticides. Wash the roses and shake off the excess water. Carefully take off the petals and put them in a large bowl. Pour the cold water over them and let stand in a dark, but not refrigerated place for about 4 hours. Strain out the petals, saving the water. Dissolve the sugar in the lemon juice and add this to the rose water. Stir in the pineapple. When ready to serve, pour over crushed ice and top with a rose petal in each glass.

Invocation to the Mother

Mother Goddess, jewel of night,
lady moon, arise tonight.
Protect me in this sacred rite,
perform to honor your glorious light.

Your silvery light graces the land
shining fair on sea and sand,
light amonst the heavens grand,
is ever changing in your hand.

Fair be the light on forest and fields
fair be the light upon the hills,
fair be the light that over me spills
for fair are the deeds thy light reveals.

Blessed maiden, mother, crone,
I honor your earth I walk upon.
Ever mindful of ones before me gone
I know I never walk alone.

Mother of guidance, bringer of light,
protect me in this sacred rite,
I call thee now attend to me
this is my will so mote it be.

[ mood | content ]

A Charm to Bind an Enemy

Gather from the corners of your chambers every cobweb, and place them, all of a tangle, upon a black cloth. Procure than a fly, recently dead, and set it down upon the mass of webs. These words should than be written down on paper:

North South East West
Spider's web shall bind him best.
East West North South
Hold his limbs and stop his mouth
Seal his eyes and choke his breath
Wrap him with ropes of death.

Fold the paper four times and wrap it up, along with the dead fly
and the webs, in the black cloth, forming a small bag. This should than be bound with a long cord and hung from a hook, do not disturb it. Let hang until covered with dust. Than it may be taken down and buried in the earth, to work its influence in perpetual secrecy.

Spell for a garden blessing [25 Jan 2008|06:06pm]
[ mood | content ]

Spell for a garden blessing

When you plant your garden this spring, in the light of the morning sun, when the first rays touch your garden, have a chalice of water or wine ready and some bread.

Raise the water in the chalice to the first ray of the sun and say:

"Tender shoots, sleeping seeds,
Gentle divas,
Watch over this garden,
Make it fertile and make it green
Make it bloom"

Take a small sip and then pour the rest over the garden.

Next, take the bread and in the new light of the dawn, say the same words, eating a bit and scattering the crumbs for the animals and try to mix some into the soil.

Seeing Auras [25 Jan 2008|09:19pm]
[ mood | content ]

Seeing Auras

First of all, what exactly is an aura? It's an electromagnetic field that surrounds all living things. They can be seen as well as felt, or sensed. Auras can reveal a persons emotional well being as well as physical state.

There's no one method to seeing auras, the method given below is my personal way.
First there's the background. Some sources say that when reading an aura it's best to have a very dark black or red background, other's say to a white one. I've tried both and found that for me darker is much easier.

Next, the aura is generally strongest around a person's head, but it you don't have another person to try this with, your own had will work fine. Pick a point just beyond your hand and let your eye unfocused (it's very similar to the way you view a 'magic eye' picture for those of you who know what that is). Eventually a thin white band will come into view. This is the first layer of the aura. Once you're able to view the white band, fix your gaze a little ways beyond it.

Eventually a color(s) band will come into view. Note, this stage is much harder to see, after a ton of practice I still can't see it every time. Each color has a meaning which is posted below.

RED: Energy, strength, courage
BRICK RED: Anger
DEEP RED:Sensuality
CRIMSON: Loyalty
PINK: Cheerfulness ,optimism
ROSE: Self love
ORANGE:Joy, vitality, balance of mental & physical
YELLOW: Wisdom, creativity, spiritual
GRAYISH YELLOW: Fear
GREEN: Ingenuity, compassion ,growth
PALE GREEN: Healing power
GRAYISH GREEN: Pessimism, envy
BLUE: Spiritual, idealistic, imaginative, intellectual
GRAYISH BLUE: Melancholy
ICE BLUE: Intellectual
PURPLE: Spiritual power
ORCHID: Idealism
WHITE: Highly spiritual(rarely seen)
BLACK: Depression, death(rarely seen)
BROWN: Earthy
DULL BROWN: Low energy
GRAY: Fear, boredom, repressed anger
GOLD: Pure knowing & intuition
SILVER:Similar to gold, very developed psychically

[ mood | calm ]

Look at your face and all it flaws. Visualize your face changing into the face you want. Rub the stone lightly over the problem areas and chant:

Stone of beauty, stone of love
Erase imperfection as I rub.
Bring to me the face I see.
As I will so mote it be!

Open the bottle of witch hazel and insert the stone. Take the rose petals in your dominant hand and say:

Venus, One of beauty rare.
I offer you these petals fair.
Bless them with your loveliness,
and bring the beauty I request

Rub the petals over any line, wrinkles etc then drop them in the witch hazel. Cap the bottle tightly and give it six shakes each day for a week. At the end of the week, use it every day as a toner after face washing. As you apply it say:

Imperfections, go away.

Salt Water Purification [25 Jan 2008|11:44pm]
[ mood | content ]

Salt Water Purification

Fill the cup or if you have one, your ritual chalice, with water. Using your athame, stir in three mounds of salt and stir counter clockwise. While doing so, say:

"Salt and water,
Inner and outer,
Soul and body,
Be cleansed!
Cast out all that is harmful!
Take in all that is good and healing!
By the power of the Mother of all life,
And her lover the Horned God,
So must it be!"

Hold the chalice close to your heart and feed power into the water. When you can feel it glow, it is ready. If you are working with a group, pass
it around and have everybody feed energy into the chalice.

THE TRADITIONAL WITCH [25 Jan 2008|11:59pm]
[ mood | cheerful ]

THE TRADITIONAL WITCH
GUIDELINES TO A MAGICKAL LIFE

These guidelines are from my own Book of Shadows. They incorporate ideas from Wicca as well as other traditions, but I do not think of them in terms of those traditions. For me, they are a mirror to which I can hold my actions, the reflection of which will tell me if I am being true to my path. They are not written in stone, and they sometimes change when I discover something new about life on Earth. It's a beginning.

~*~

It is not sufficient to say you are a "witch" or to practice magick. You must also live as a witch.

Do not look for excuses for why you cannot follow the path. Accept responsibility for your failures as well as your successes.
