Sirius' body was warm against his own. He liked having him so near. It was always easier to sleep when Sirius crawled into bed with him at night. They wren't in bed, but Remus was comfortable enough to doze when the time came for it. He wanted to make sure Sirius was asleep before he even would consider closing his eyes. But the other boy's words made his heart start to speed up, and his cheeks to tint pink. Sirius always had the ability to do that to him.
He could tell Sirius was sleepy. Maybe his ramblings were just that -- sleepy jumbled words. Perhaps he shouldn't have taken them to heart, but he couldn't help it. The words were right on the tip of his tongue. It's just you for me, too. It's always been just you... Remus held him a little closer and took a shaky breath. Where was his Gryffindor courage? Was it as broken as his heart?
"It's just you for me too, Sirius. You've always been the only one. The one who makes me feel like me," he whispered, and brushed his lips against his forehead. There. There it was. His heart beat was flying, and his nerves were completely on edge. But there it was. He hadn't clammed up, for once in his life he'd been brave.
