Rules of the party:
1) No alcohol [personal belongings will not be checked for contraband, however].
2) Dates are mandatory until 8 pm.
3) After 8 pm, The Terrible Teaspoons will play until midnight, when the party is over.
4) Morning classes are suspended on Monday. Classes will resume after lunch.
5) Keep snogging to a respectable minimum, and out of the centre of the party.
6) NO FORNICATION!! [Professors, Heads, and Prefects will not be doing castle rounds tonight, however].

Remus wasn't sure what to make of all this. He was just.. stunned, to say the least. He thought for sure Sirius would wriggle away from Malfoy after a few seconds, but the minutes were ticking by and there was still no sign of him. Until, that is, he saw the two of them emerge hand in hand from the crowd. What the hell was going on?

None of this made the slightest bit of sense. Sirius was tipsy, but he'd seen him far worse. Surely he still had his wits about him to know that something was amiss. But what if he didn't? Was Lucius just taking advantage of him to humiliate him? If that was the case, Remus had to step in for Sirius' sake.

Seeing them heading out the door, he followed quickly so he wouldn't lose them. They didn't get far, though. No sooner had he stepped out of the hall did he see them locking lips. No, this was wrong. He felt sick to his stomach and his heart ached, but he knew this wasn't real. Sirius was drunk, and Malfoy was taking advantage of him.

"Sirius," he called out, and hurried over to them. "Stop taking advantage of him, Malfoy. He's had too much to drink."

Sirius glanced up reluctantly as Remus called his name, and somewhere deep in the depths of his brain part of Sirius was screaming.

YES! Look, Remus! Go with him! Get out of here! Go!

"Sod off Lupin," Sirius slurred, eyes half lidded and vision unfocused. "Cn't you see w're busy?" He slid his hand under Lucius' shirt and growled. "'S crowded out hre. Cn we go sumwhre else?"

NO! Shit, no!

Remus couldn't believe what he was hearing, but he was still convinced this was just Sirius being drunk and belligerent. This wasn't what he really wanted. He'd never touch Malfoy if he had his wits about him. None of this made a lick of sense, which was exactly why he thought it was purely the alcohol and the fact that Malfoy was a creepy prat.

"Sirius, please," he said, and reached out to take hold of one of his arms. "Just come with me. Come to the room with me." If they could just go back to the dorm, they could set things right. He could take care of him, tuck him in and let him sleep off the intoxication. "Please?"

	Sirius pushed Remus' arm away, then shoved him violently backward. "I said F'ck off! Y'r not my Goddamn m'ther!" The little voice was screaming again, but this time Sirius couldn't even hear it. "J'st go!" He shoved Remus again, tottering dangerously, then turned back to Lucius and seized him, pulling the older boy in the a rough kiss. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

The smugness that he felt while watching the interaction between two friends made him feel completely high. He couldn't imagine a better way for things to pan out than what was happening right there, and he had front row seats. When the bloody werewolf tried to reason with Sirius, he'd been roughly shoved away and Lucius gave a mental cheer at the strength of the inebriated and potioned up Sirius Black.

As he was pulled roughly against Sirius's lips once more, he took full advantage of the position and pushed his hips forward while grabbing onto Sirius's hair, making the show all the more convincing. After a few breathless, sloppy snogs, he pulled away from Sirius and turned a malicious look on Remus, watching the werewolf's heart crush before his eyes as he announced:

"Come to think of it, this place is a bit crowded for my tastes. Let's go, Sirius." He'd drawled the other's name so sensually as he turned back toward him, placing another kiss on his lips before grabbing both of his hands and leading him off. Phase one of his plan was turning out beautifully.

Remus had endured pain almost his entire life. It was a part of him that he'd grown to accept. Emotional pain, physical pain, he'd been through it all. But this. This. This was more than he thought he could take. His heart was broken.

It felt like he wind had been sucked out of his lungs. He could hardly stand up. He was dizzy. HE felt sick, like he'd been punched in the stomach. In that one moment, his heart had shattered into a million tiny fragments, piercing him all over. He couldn't speak, he couldn't move. All he could do was collapse against the wall to keep himself standing.

Sirius was gone. He'd left, and he'd shattered him right down to his very core.
