Why: Spider didn't want to leave someone alone fending for himself and Benny was happy not to let that happen. Rated: Pg-13 Status: Incomplete
The trip back to camp went by smoothly enough. There were some times that Benny and Spider had to walk the bike across litter heavy areas and carry the bike over high traffic areas where abandoned cars worked as an impediment to there progress but with only three miles to travel and the blessing of youthful riggings the two men reached the camp during the twilight hours.
The bike was parked as soon as Benny and he got to the make-shift camp the group had been part of for the last day or so. Even if a fire was crackling already for the night crew there was not anyone here tending to the flame. Not that Spider expected the gang to jump up and run over to give him hugs and kisses or high fives for bringing back a new friend. That wasn't how things operated (lately).
Actually, maybe he HAD hoped that's the way it would go. The fact that no one was sitting and cooking or talking or as it had been going recently - brooding silently, made Spider feel a little discomfited. He had hoped he would bring Benny back to a hopeful scene and instead it was a ghost town.
Where is everyone?
He turned and looked at Benny sheepishly. "they have to be around here..." of course his gun was drawn after, which might not have been the welcoming that Benny was hoping for but with things this silent and no one watching the fire or patrolling the area he was instantly on alert and worried.
He whistled and then hissed in a whisper yell, "Hello? Neil?...Anyone here?"
