Lexi maintained that it was not the same thing. It was not the same thing at all. Knowing someone through a sport and the way they played said sport was not paramount to the sort of involvement the two of them had now. Lexi's actions were guided by affection, which left the obvious question of what motivated Katie's and/or Marcus'. You simply didn't decide to cuddle on the couch with someone you were simply trying to get along with for the sake of some team. That was the most ridiculous thing she'd ever heard.
Still, she kept her mouth firmly closed, but it was not at all hard to tell that she didn't believe them. They were far too involved for that explanation not to be full of holes. She also didn't believe that they'd simply go back to the way they had been before or that they were going to stop. Katie claimed she would limit her time with Marcus to when it was Quidditch related ... but she'd also just said the whole thing was a means to win the cup. Quidditch was their go to reason when they felt they needed one. Now would be no different.
"If you say so," she muttered, offering a shrug of her own. Something was going on and it was unsettling.
Marcus was beyond uncomfortable. He felt strangely like he was sitting in front of his parents waiting for whatever punishment they were in the mood to hand out. "Well," he ground out, irritated with how the entire conversation had turned out, "I'm glad we could put you two at ease."
