Tris had almost forgotten how dull summers could be. Sure, there was the week after school let out that was just unwinding and detoxing, and then there was the week after that to get started on summer fun ... and then there were the seemingly endless weeks after that until the next session started. Sure, there was tutoring. There was assisting the young weres through things, and the young turned ones through the same things, but that wasn't even close to full time. So he made projects of finding the most interesting way to kill time. Tonight's project was a card tower. In McDonald's. He'd gotten food and was nursing a Coke so he wasn't technically loitering, and he hoped he was amusing the staff enough that no one would fuss too much about him being there. It was quiet, after all. He'd sorted a deck of cards by suit and then stacked them in order. He'd started to build the base of a card tower and then found he was near a vent. So he knocked it down, relocated to another table, and started all over again. After he had a relatively solid base, Tris took a sip of his Coke, regarded his remaining cards and considered how best to go about the next level. Cocking his head, he tapped a card idly against the table top as he thought. His blue eyes roved over the interior of the restaurant to see if anyone was paying him any mind -- or to see if he could spot some inspiration for the progression of his card castle. |
