A moment of quiet time
Who: Alex & Declan
When: Week 8: Thursday August 21st, afternoon
Where: Barking Irish Clubhouse
Summary: Alex is finding some time to reflect a little; a small entrance from Declan
Warnings/Rating: None
Status: Complete
There was a break in the chaos that had become Alex’s life as of late. Maybe chaos wasn’t the right word, but for Alex it has been a bit nuts; ever since being voted into the pack, everyone wanted a bit of her time.
It was amazing, really.
When Patrick and Conor had been in Ireland and all had been right with the world, Alex had been used to being in the center of things.
Then Patrick was banished and Conor left with his brother, leaving her behind. She went from being in the center of things to being one being alone.
For years she had been one to submerse herself in work and not really be a joiner. Everything, now, had gone a complete circle. She was Conor’s mate once again, though there was a separation their relationship had never really ended; they were having to relearn each other, sure, but the love they had for one another was still there and stronger than ever for her it seemed. Now that she was his mate, in the pack and not only pack but Alpha female, she was right back to being in the center of things.
Before the vote there had been some that had talked to her, but none had really tried to really know her. Now that she was voted in, and with Packard gone, everyone seemed to be dying to know her. How long has she known Conor? Was she close to Patrick? Why didn’t she follow Conor when he left with Patrick? What was Ireland like?
The questions went on and on and they seemed to especially love any stories of Conor and Patrick that she could tell.
Alex hadn’t gotten a lot of quiet time, with all the ‘get to know you’ questions; she didn’t mind, really, it was great that some of the pack was accepting her, but there were times where Alex really needed a moment of quiet.
It seemed this afternoon she was getting exactly that. Everyone had other stuff to do, which left her alone in the clubhouse for a little while.
Everything was quiet, except for the noise that came from the bar and she was okay with that. She was alone; she could take a seat and reflect which was exactly what she was going to do.
Taking a seat in an overstuffed chair, she looked around her new home.
A smile pulled at her lips.
Home.
She was home.
Her mom would be proud…or so she thought.
This life, the love she had for Conor, the making of a pack family she could love and who might could love her back. Acceptance. Happiness.
Yeah, her mom would be proud. She was living her life and not one that someone tried to make her live.
She belonged.
Alex hadn’t thought she would ever go pack again, especially so soon after leaving her old pack. Everything had just fallen into place, though. She felt confident in her place beside Conor, even though Packards words haunted her from time to time she tried to believe that she was better for this pack than what he predicted.
Conor thought she was right for the part, and she trusted him. Maybe she’d screw up, most likely she would a time or two... but what was life without a few mistakes?
A door opened and then slammed shut.
Foot steps sounded. Declan, she could tell.
"Hey, Alex," Declan greeted. "Found you some quiet time, did ya?"
"Aye," Alex responded. "Would you like to join me? Anymore news on the attacks?"
"Hell yeah I will," Declan grinned. He took a seat on a couch near by, tossing an unopened bottle of beer her way and cracking open the other. "It's seldom to find it so quiet in here," he mused before answering her next question. "The four that attacked the one sup have been found and arrested last night. Other than that, I don't know much more. Oh, and BTG Corp was hit earlier this morning," he shrugged. They knew what the business really was and it affected the wolves, none. "Still keeping security up and keep a watch out, but no new attacks have been reported," he added and went quiet; drinking his beer.
"BTG Corp?" She repeated out loud and then gave a shrug of her own shoulders. "Random..." she added and then went quiet herself, sinking into her chair and cracking open the beer he had tossed her.
The two sat quietly after that, a little random chit chat but each one really just enjoying the silence that rarely happened. Later, others would show and the silence would be broken, but for now they just enjoyed each others company...quietly.
